When England won the 2005 Ashes series, cricket was keeping football off the front pages. Everyone was interested, even people who didn't understand the rules. But after that it went downhill. They went to the 2006/7 Ashes series in Australia full of confidence and hope. But they were whitewashed 5-0. They won the Commonwealth Bank series, in which New Zealand were also involved. But after a dissapointing World Cup, which England went out of in the Super Eights, coach Duncan Fletcher was sacked. Cue Peter Moores. But some inconsistent results have got Moores sacked. Now Adam Hornbuckle has a year before the 2009 Ashes to build his squad. Can England do it? Find out here.

Sri Lanka tour West Indies

Sri Lanka won the first test by 3 wickets chasing down 280 to win. Upul Tharanga drove Sri Lanka home with an unbeaten 71. At the end he had 34 year old Chaminda Vaas giving him support with 7 not out from 10 balls. Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan got man of the match with 8-151.

Sri Lanka then dominated the final test, winning by 5 wickets, and taking the series 2-0. They had a wobble chasing 143 with five wickets down, but Chamara Silva and Prasanna Jayawardene assured Sri Lanka won the series. Man of the match was Kumar Sangakkara, with a suberb flowing 185.​
