Its on an experimental basis only.Before the 1st T20 World Cup,the BCCI was opposed to it.But,I suppose the T20 will be a permanent fixture now on.

I'd like the Champpions Trophy to be a 4-year affair.

2007 & 2011 World Cup.

We can slot the CT in between these two in 2009.That would be better.

The tour, India's first of New Zealand since 2002-03, begins with a Twenty20 international at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington and ends with the final Test, from April 3-7, at the Basin Reserve in the same city. India will play one Twenty20 international, five day-night ODIs, a warm-up three-day game, and two Tests during their trip; they return home in time for the second edition of the Indian Premier League.

India last time really had torrid time,now as mentioned in article they have to face NZ,IPL,Pak full tour, it will be very difficult, because of diffrent cilmatic onditions also, IPL runs for around 40-45 days, and Pak tour,will be very hot and exausting,like this IPL was.
Indian players dont have any option,they are controlled by BCCI.

That is because the ICC CT in Pakistan 2008 was shifted to 2009 due to political reasons.
They probably don't want another CT immediately and thats why they opted for a T20 Championship in WI instead.
