ICC World Cricket League Division Three

I think this is an interesting prospect for the world of cricket, it gets other contries recognized and may bring some players to the counties

PNG and Fiji playing cricket interesting, should be good seeing how they go.
Both have a couple of former Australian Under-19 players in their side. Neil Maxell plays for Fiji and Jamie Brazier plays for PNG. Both were born in the countries they play for now.

Day One Results

Italy: 175/9
Argentina: 174 all out

Italy win by 1 run

Fiji: 135 all out
Papua New Guinea: 140/9

PNG win by 1 wickets

Tanzania: 206/6
Cayman Islands: 210/0 (Gordon 104 not out, Hall 100 not out)

Cayman Islands win by 10 wickets

They probably don't even know that these countries play cricket! During the World Cup Tony Cozier said numerous times that Guyana were the only cricket-playing country in South America... so obviously the Argentina result above didn't happen.

and Brazil play as well some very good games doesnt matter that the level of skill was lacking just that both teams were fighting hard makes it entertaining

Today's Results

Group A

Papua New Guinea: 91 all out (MacDermott 4/22)
Argentina: 92/5 (Forrester 44 not out)

Argentina win by five wickets

Italy: 186/9
Fiji: 149 all out

Italy win by 37 runs

Group B

Tanzania: 64 all out
Uganda: 70/6 (Mwita 4/23)

Uganda win by four wickets

Hong Kong: 67 all out (Hinds 4/22)
Cayman Islands: 70/2

Cayman Islands win by 8 wickets

That is alot more lop sided Cayman Islands would be favorites???

In Tony Cozier's defense, I dont even think the residents of some of these countries no that they have a national representative team.

Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong were the pre-tournament favourites, but PNG lost to the eight ranked side today and Hong Kong are already out of it and relegated to Division Four, so favourites don't mean a thing in this tournament!

Cayman Islands opening batsmen look to be quite strong are they from another country originally?

Who cares about World Cup or whatever when you have thes results. Look like fantastic games. Also was the second match(won by one wicket) won by hitting a six?

Steve Gordon played a few first-class games for Jamaica in the late 80s/early 90s, but has been living in the Cayman Islands for more than ten years. Ainsley Hall was also born in Jamaica.

Most of the Cayman Islands squad was born in the country though.

I believe it was. One of today's games was also won by hitting a six.

Argie born and bred here, and we do know we have a national team! It even gets coverage in the Buenos Aires Herald, and so does the local league.
The result against PNG is bloody brilliant, it's such a shame we couldn't beat Italy, otherwise we'd already be in the semis. See you in WC 2011? :p
