Welcome to the 2007 ICC World Cup campaign. Throughout the tournament we will see some of the finest cricket players in action. Players from Andrew Flintoff (Eng), to Ricky Ponting (Aus) on display within the next coming off weeks.

This is the tournament that proves which team is the class above the rest. All teams throughout the world have come together here in the Indies, to prove to the world and to one another which team is without a doubt the better team when it comes to one day cricket.
Teams from all over the world have come to this tournament, Australia, Sri Lanka, England, Scotland will battle for this prize at the end.

Good luck to all competitiors in the competition and may the best team win.

So here we are at Barbados in the West Indies. Australia will take on Scotland in their first match of the pool matches. Australia will come into the match with a very strong squad, and are massive favourites to take out this match. It should be a comfortable win for the Aussies, but knowing what could happen in a 50/50 match, which is anything.
Let's have a look at the Australian squad....

1. OBT - Matthew Hayden
2. OBT - Phil Jaques
3. BAT - Ricky Ponting
4. Bat - Michael Hussey
5. BAT - Michael Clarke
6. WK - Brad Haddin
7. ALL - Shane Watson
8. ASP - Brad Hogg
9. OBW - Brett Lee
10. BWL - Stuart Clark
11. BWL - Mitchell Johnson

When you take a look at that squad from the Australia's, it is the best they could possibly field. Matthew Hayden and Phil Jaques opening the batting, with Ponting, Hussey and Michael Clarke to back them up to notch up the runs. Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson will have the job to take out the Scotland opening batsmen, while Brad Hogg will love these conditions, as the pitch should crack by the end of the afternoon, which is when we'll see Hogg come into the attack.

So here we are, before the start of the match, Australia have won the toss and have elected to bat first. It was a pretty easy choice from Ponting who said to our commentary team before the toss, that it was a good pitch that will provide a lot of bounce throughout the afternoon. The pitch will slow down and crack by the end of our innings though, so that';s why we chose to bat first. We have some good spinners in Hogg and Clarke that can do the job for us when we need.

So Matthew Hayden and Phil Jaques come to the crease to begin the match. This should be a easy win for Australia, but you never know what could happen, so lets go and find out.

One Day international: Australia vs Scotland - 5 overs

5 overs have past here in the match between Australia and Scotland, and now we see ourself with this.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, so with Matty Hayden and Phil Jaques now to the crease, it was a perfect day for a game of cricket.

In the first 5 overs, Haydos showed no fear in attacking the Scottish bowling attack. Hoffman was the opening bowler that had to deal with Hayden when Hayden looks to be in good form. 3 Boundaries already early in the innings sees Hayden already sitting on 19 after just 5 overs.
It was slow going for the first couple of overs, before Hayden started to look and feel a lot more comfortable out in the middle and playing some decent shots.

MatthewHayden-1.jpg

Playing off the back foot, and then doing a party trick and sweeping the ball past his own right shoulder, to actually hook the ball around his body and end up hitting a 4, practically level on with his back of his body.
Then Hayden straight drived the ball down the ground. While the Scottish are trying to think what they can do, to stop this current attack, they need to keep in mind that they still have Jaques out their, who is still a good one day batsmen.

Phil Jaques has been a little more careful then Hayden has at the moment, only making 7 runs for the 5 overs, but he is just easing himself into things. He is letting Hayden do all the big hitting for now, just to see how it goes, and see if they can ravel the Scotland attack.
Jaques will come out firing in the next couple of overs, you can just feel it.

good start there by Hayden, Australia should get a big enough total to beat Scotland here

Yeah he has played some wonderful shots so far.
What do people think of my presentation?
Will update another 5-10 overs soon :D

Australia vs Scotland - ICC World Cup

So if you have just joined us here at Barbados, we are watching the One day international between Australia and Scotland in their pool match for the World Cup.
Just another couple of overs have passed in the Australian Innings which has seen them steadily keep the run rate going, to post a pretty high score in this match.
Matthew Hayden and Phil Jaques are a quality opening partners, and it will need something very special from the Scotland bowling attack to seperate them before, they get too comfortable out in the middle.

Matthew Hayden has been in some pretty good form prior to this match. And without a doubt is still keeping that form going. He has played some brilliant shots this afternoon throughout the first couple of overs, and if the Scots aren't careful, they will be in for a hell of a ride with Hayden.
Jaques has settled down a little bit more now, and is scoring at a considerable rate.

There were a few up and down moments for the Aussies in the first couple of overs. Ecspecially this one shot that Jaques managed to pull off. Was sweatly time off the middle of the bat, and the sound around the ground was undiscribable. It was a magnificent shot.
But one other ball from that over, Hoffman (the Scotland bowler), pitched a perfect line and length, which saw Jaques play the shot, but missing the ball, and it just missed the bottom edge of the bat.
Jaques must be careful here.

But it was Jaques himself that wasn't so careful in the next over. Hoffman was up the bowlers end, while Matthew Hayden stood their and watched. Hoffman came running in at full speed and this is what occured.
A short pitched bouncer like type delivery from Hoffman which got Jaques jumping off the back foot. The ball was high enough to his Jaques on the glove which saw the ball travel through the air, behind Jaques head.
After travelling through the air, the ball dropped right next to the stumps, and without much contact, the bails came off.
HOFFMAN PICKED UP HIS WICKET. And Jaques was gone for 17, and fine start, but nothing more then that.

So the opening partnership was broken, and Scotland will feel very much releaved after that wicket. Jaques had a good start to the match, but couldn't continue with it, and is out for 17. Matthew Hayden is still out in the crease, and so this leaves us with Australia: 1-44

But the danger certainly has surpassed the Scottish yet. With the Australia Captain Ricky Ponting now making his way out onto the arena. With Hayden is some good form and playing some good shots. And one of the best arguably batsmen playing the game today, the danger is right back on Scotland.
They will need to somehow look to break this before it starts.

Australia vs Scotland - ICC World Cup

After the wicket of opening batmen Phil Jaques, the game was more evenly poised. Scotland got the breakthrough they needed, but none of the actual damage was done.
With Ricky Ponting coming to the crease, it was going to be even tougher for the Scottish to form a attack of bowling.
And with his partner, Matthew Hayden is some good form and playing some good shots, it was looking difficult for Scotland to pick up another wicket.

As been the case for the whole match, Matthew Hayden is playing great. Some wonderful shots have been played by the champion and is showing some class of the old Matthew Hayden we've been use too.
Some luck has turned his way, and with some poor fielding by the Scottish, it looks to me that Australia have this innings covered, and we have only played 15 overs from it.

HaydensLuck.jpg

Scotland needed a change. Their two bowlers weren't providing enough for them to win this match, so they had to change their bowling attack around. Hoffman who picked up the wicket of Phil Jaques has been bowling well, so he'll be kept in the attack for the moment, but D. Nel has come in to the attack to try and provide a little something.

nextbowler.jpg

Although to little surprise, Australian wasn't worried about the bowling moves from the Scotland Captain. They (Ponting and Hayden) still went on their damaging ways. Hayden was has played a wonderful knock this afternoon, reached his half century. It has come very quick, and only off 61 balls, and 7 fours, Hayden made his milestone.
It was a good celebration from the crowd and Hayden, but now the works not done, needs to settle down now, and not get carried away.
Now that the fielding restrictions are off, it will be more harder for Hayden to score runs, but that will be remain to be seen.

Hayden50.jpg

So Hayden has now reached the 50 mark, and has played a very quick and powerful innings. Is there more to come from the opening left hander? Will the old Hayden we all famously know come out with the big shots, and try and smack the ball over the fence/stadium, or will he keep his nerve and play another solid but fair innings to reach his hundred?
A don't forget, his Captain is up the other end, so he wouldn't wanna do anything silly.
