Derbyshire was the weak team of the six teams with the nation being bundled out in the Super 8s stage. But for the team, the only lost came from their finalists at the Gabba in the final round. For the host team, they struggled with the only wins being against the runner-ups and fourth place Lahore.

Six teams joined the opening season with all hopes being on the West Coast Fever as they had the strongest team of the campaign. But with the opening win against Auckland, the hope of the host team was in a good mood. The team though struggled in the final four matches as they could only finish one game off completely.

Mumbai and Lahore was the other teams that was in contention of the trophy. With all hopes of the two finalists from the 2007 T20WC. It was a shock for them to miss out in the finals with Lahore only missing out by 2 points from 2nd place has they have a better NRR than the other two teams.

Key Players in Season 1
:pak: Salman Butt (LL) – 228 runs
For Salman Butt, he stayed consist all during the season, with him scoring two fifites and with his lowing score being 24 in the two wicket win against the Nashua. Despite playing two fewer games than Owais Shah (1 game) and Brendon McCullum, he still scored the most runs in the season. He is the player of the tournament.

:wi: Chris Gayle (WCF) – 166 runs, high score of 91
One of the innings that really shown in season 1 was in the battle of the ashes match between West Coast and Derbyshire. In the chase for 193, Chris Gayle smacked 12 fours and five sixes in his innings of 91. But other than that, Gayle struggled with a average of 18.75 in the remaining four innings for the season.

:nz: Nathan McCullum (DF) – 11 wickets
Nathan McCullum was one of two bowlers who finish on top with 11 wickets with the other one being Mark Gillespie. For Nathan McCullum, he finished in second place on economy after only conceding 124 runs in 23 overs. He was also one of only four players to get a 4 wicket haul after getting it in the high scoring match against West Coast.

:nz: Mark Gillespie (AS) – 11 wickets, best bowling of 5 for 27
Gillespie was the other one that got 11 wickets as he was also got the best bowling figures of the season with him taking five wickets in the match against Lahore. For Gillespie he was also the only one to bowl in 7 innings and 28 overs with the next best bowler only delievering 24.

Performance of the Tournament:
This was a tough one to choose but in terms of delivering the goods, Jeremy Snape performance of 70 in the final against Auckland was the best play of the tournament. Nathan McCullum got second for his bowling performance in a high scoring encounter.
