Magnificent death bowling from Scottish men. They were hardly distracted with their line and length during last three overs. Although they just keened to hit the wide yorker spot of the pitch. That somewhat made me remind of Malinga and Kulasekara. Scotland were also flawless. Absolutely loved it!

P.s. Just checked the scores. I think they gravely need to work hard on their batting.

I am so disappointed to see Sri Lanka playing so badly. They are 6 overs 20 for 2 chasing 221 against New Zealand. I mean their selection has been piss poor.

On India's warmup match, Yuvi, Sharma fantastic. Eden garden and Rohit Sharma are a deadly combo

Prior to the start of second phase of WT20 matches, Bangladesh is in deep trouble. Their main frontline bowler - Taskin Ahmed and his team mate Arafat Sunny are under review for illegal bowling action. Match refree had a concern with their bowling in the match against Scotland and he reported the same to ICC officials. They are still allowed to play matches and they have been given the deadline of 14 days to get their bowling tested. If they fail in the test then this will be huge blow for Bangladesh.

Sh!t just got real ...

Although technically this isnt the world cup :spy

The terms are used interchangeably, with "T20 World Cup" and "World T20". To me, this is a World Cup for T20 format just like there is a World Cup for the ODI format. If test cricket also has a championship model, that can be called the "Test World Cup". Another thing is, soon the T20 World Cup should become the primary World Cup. With the modern world moving towards more T20's, this format should host the biggest World Cup of the sport. Currently the biggest World Cup of cricket is the ODI World Cup. Sometime soon, it should soon move to T20 World Cup.

Back on our warmup game, clinical win that! More so, good to see Shami among the wickets and getting the much needed warmup. I am still skeptical about him because he has been away for so long and why do we need to tinker with our winning combo of Nehra and Bumrah. With Nehra, you also have the left-right variation that he brings with Bumrah. We can't play 3 seamers in India also. Superb knock by Yuvi too. All the practice he needs, he should take it.

Pakistan has done a huge favour to him. He has made a statement, now it will be interesting to see how he backs it up on the match day. He becomes a different player when he is playing at Eden gardens.

And if he does play his best then even "normal" Amir will become "roadside" bowler :p.

Except that the official tournament names are "ICC World T20" and "ICC Cricket World Cup" :| :|

Plus ICC CWC happens every 4 years, pertaining to the International world cup tradition - FIFA World Cup, Rugby world Cup, IAAF World Cup, Hockey World Cup, Volleyball World Cup - they are all once every 4 years. I am sure there are more such examples

When someone says, Cricket world cup, there is 99% chance that they are referring to ODIs.

I highly doubt that is going to happen - ODI is still a major marquee event for cricket - massive revenue generator. Actually, it would be interesting to see which one generates more revenue - World T20 or the World cup. Plus the novelty factor gets killed when the World T20 is happening every 2 years. Too frequent to be considered "prestigious enough" IMO

@abhi_jacko Next ICC WT20 is scheduled to take player 2020.

I agree with those official names. But in common fan terms, T20 World Cup is also used to refer to a World Cup for the T20 format. Personally, I like this more than calling it "World T20".

Yes in order for the World T20 to become the premier World Cup, it has to be done every years. But seeing the trend so far, T20's have all the ability to become the premier format of the game and make the authorities change the World Cup for T20 to every 4 years and downsize on ODI's. This format can take cricket to unchartered territories, so I definitely foresee it going that way forward.

Just watched the highlights of the last few games: I'm a little disappointed with the way that we've batted in the last few games. The bowlers have put us into positions where we could have won both games but our batsmen haven't been able to . Its a bit frustrating to see Scotland play very well in every other major competition they play in and then fail in the ICC competitions - Preston Mommsen has some thoughts about that and I'm honestly inclined to agree with him. I'm especially disappointed since I'd have rated our chances of getting out of the qualifiers into the main competition, but now that looks impossible.

Oman played very well and totally deserved that win. I think that demonstrates just how deep Associate Cricket is at the moment: they play in World Cricket League Division 5 at the moment and had to go through at least two qualifying phases before they qualified for the "first round" (its another qualifier, lets be honest), and yet they managed to defeat the team that lots of people hold up as the only good associate team.

It shows just how bad this format is though: you have some really exciting games being played between some very good teams and yet you have people not watching the games because they aren't seen as legitimate because India and England aren't playing yet. The TV coverage doesn't exactly help that: the commentators don't seem to have particularly well informed about Associate Cricket and that leads to some - I saw something on twitter about them talking about how Tom Cooper was "making his T20 Interantional debut" in the game against Bangladesh - in only takes five minutes to discover that the guy has played 16 games and was the second highest run scorer in the last World T20...

If the Ireland/Bangladesh game is rained out then the Oman/Bangladesh match is basically a knockout to qualify for the main competition: based on what I've seen that's the most likely outcome

The Dutch just had some really bad luck: they were really close against Bangladesh and then denied the chance to proceed by rain is incredibly unlucky. If I was in charge of the competition I'd have scheduled a rain day between the two group stages; just in case something like this happened
