I know Indian fans have a history here of the "reverse jinx", but trust me there's a very growing fear among us (Indian fans) that India is being put way too high on the pedestal and I dont think that suits our personalities and the way we function/think. Right now, the talk/hype is like "might as well give the trophy to MS Dhoni and the other teams just go home". This is plain crazy. India is not that great. Not too long ago, we were even talking about how India might have a hard time in this tournament even though its in Indian conditions. Suddenly the team acquired this lofty status and we know it will most likely thud down to earth at the most crucial of moments, leaving the Indian fans devastated. And that moment is most likely going to be this tournament.
True that.
Had India lost the Australia T20 series and not reached the Asia Cup Finals, I doubt many would've ranked India as a serious contender. I've said this before and would say it even now- the middle order is quite inconsistent and this might just cost us a game or two here. The good thing though, MS seems to be striking the ball well and would do well to keep it that way. My prediction is that we may go up to the semis and lose to South Africa (who might eventually become Champions).
