FTP UPDATE
Tours in May 2006

As Team India head out to the Carribean, there are a few other series that are a part of the FTP.

Sri Lanka tour England. (2 tests in May and the 3rd in June '06)

The odds are on England to swamp the tourists who are with out the services of injured captain Marvan Atapattu and the now retired Jayasuriya.

England would be missing their Ashes winning captain Michael Vaughan but will be bolstered with the return of swashbuckling opener Marcus Trescothick. Harmison and Jones will be missing the test series through injuries and there is a possiblity of Sajjid Mahmood getting his test cap.

Prediction for test series: England to win the series 3 - 0.

Players to watch out for:

England: Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Flintoff

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara, Muralitharan.

ICC Tri series: (Zimbabwe vs Canada vs Bermuda)

A much beleagured Zimbabwe team will look to reconcile after being thrashed by the Windies. Bermuda and Canada would look to get some quality practice before the world cup.

Prediction for the series: Zimbabwe to win the series, with Bermuda likely to spring some surprize.

Players to watch out for:

Zimbabwe: Charles Coventry, Chamu Chihbaha, Edward Rainsford.

Canada: John Davison, Desmond Chumney

Bermuda: Dean Minors

Intresting bala, u have something more in store than "god save duff" :p
You dont know about the history behind the God save the Duff. Go to page 612 of the superthread. :)

I don't think 'God save the Duff' is anything to do with the contention of the thread! Anyway you'll have to remove it after the awards for good. :)

Good luck with the FTP Bala. (excuse the pun)

Don't underestimate the West Indies - Chappell

Confident, or cocky?

On the eve of the 1st ODI against West Indies at Jamaica, Indian coach Greg Chappell has stated that the West Indies must not be taken for granted.

"They have a great pedigree and they should never be underestimated. They have produced some great players over the years and this series might be the launching pad for some one to step up to that pedigree."
On the chances of the Indian team

"Of course, we are quite confident of a series win here. Last two times the boys were unlucky to have lost the series, but we are looking into few finer points that might help us out.
Chappell picked out Brian Lara as the main danger for the Indians

"Brian is due for a huge knock and he will certainly try to have one big bang before he bows out."

India Vs West Indies
1st ODI, Jamaica.

Tony Cozier: Welcome to the first ODI between India and the West Indies for the Cable and Wireless ODI series. We have murky conditions here in Jamaica and there is a reported 40% possibility of rain. The temperature is mild at 29 degrees.

Coming to the pitch, its quite alright for batting. Though early conditions might assist the seamers. I would want to bowl first on this pitch to use that early juice in the pitch. Lets go to Ravi Shastri as he is ready with the two captains for the toss.

Nice to see someone going back to the olden golden great game -blc 99
keep up the story mate.
reps for you.

COIN TOSS

Ravi Shastri: I have with me the two captains - Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara. Dravid to call.

Dravid: Tails!

Ravi Shastri: Tails, it is. Rahul what have you decided?

Dravid: We will bat first. The pitch is looking good and we are confident of knocking a good score here.

Ravi Shastri: What is the composition of the side, Rahul?

Dravid: We are playing three seamers in Irfan, Ajit and Sree. Powar will operate as the lone spinner as we have a batsman extra. Venu will sit this out with Kaif at No.6

Ravi Shastri: Good luck Rahul. Brian, happy with the toss?

Lara: Very much! We wanted to bowl first. The conditions are ideal for bowling and we are playing four seamers.

Ravi Shastri: Enjoying your latest stint as captain?

Lara: Yes! We had a good series against Zimbabwe and we are looking to do well against a better opposition.

Ravi Shastri: All the best Brian. That is the news from the centre. India have won the toss and will bat first.
