For the home team Tino Best was the best bowler on view. He picked up 2 wickets for 35 in 8 overs. It would remain a mystery why Lara did not bowl the economical Best and Bradshaw their full quota of overs. Gayle was carted apart and Bravo was taken to the cleaners by Pathan and Powar.
"Best" bowler on view! Bravo - bowled well in patches
Thanks for all the replies guys! West Indies will begin the chase requiring 5.38 runs every over. Chris Gayle will open along with Dwayne Smith. Stay tuned.
Faced with a competetive total of 269 to win, West Indies got off to a good start with the openers Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle playing some good shots. Gayle struggled against the nagging line bowled by Sreesanth, but the surprize package was the newly promoted opener Dwayne Smith.
Smith went on his business using the long handle to good effect when required. He was harsh on Irfan Pathan who was smacked for 28 of his 4 overs. Agarkar replaced Pathan in the 9th over.
After being thrashed around by Smith, Pathan was replaced by Agarkar. Agarkar and Sreesanth bowled well in tandem and contained the scoring rate. The Windies have scored 60/0 in 15.0 overs at an R/R of 4.00 per over.
This might be a perfect launching pad as Dravid opts for the 3rd power play in search of a much needed wicket. West Indies require 209 runs in 35 overs at 6.00 an over.
Smith has smacked 6 boundaries en-route to 39 and Gayle has been more subdued scoring 21 off 40 balls. Sreesanth has bowled a brilliant spell conceding just 18 runs in 7 overs.
Dwayne Smith continued his fine performance opening the batting as he reached a wonderful half century. His innings was laced with shots that dealt with both finesse and brute power. Giving him company was Gayle who is unbeaten on 28. The West Indies are 78/0 in the 18th over.
The best shot played by Smith was the lofted inside-out shot he played over cover of Ramesh Powar that took him to his 50!
Ramesh Powar dismissed Dwayne Smith soon after he completed his 50. Smith tried to hit a looping ball from Powar over mid off and was castled. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the new batsman in as the Windies are 1/85 in 22 overs!
