India is good but not exciting.Well common guyz we all know how boring are these people especially Ganguly.Wtf is he doing? :mad They have been repeating the same mistakes from the last 4 years.Well its all boring to me.We should learn from Flintoff,Simon Jones,Hoggard. They have done excellently well against Australia and have been improving their skills from the last 4 years.

Mr.Mahesh Babu, India is a very good test side . We are still the only side along with the current England side to beat Australia in a test series . Our head to head record against the aussies is absolutely great in tests over the past 5 years . If England do beat Australia, it will be the first time since India beat Australia in 2001 ! If you would have watched that series, I bet you would not call them boring !

Oh damn!!! When I saw the scores, it was 210/7 with 8 more overs remaining!!! 55 runs scored in the last 8 overs??? What is in store on this pitch? If this line up can score this much, then its a pure batting beauty!!!! Imagine an India vs England or India vs Pakistan match with the team other than India batting first? Indian bowlers would have gone for 400 in the day!!!

Zaheer was above average! Kumble was good. What happened to Pathan today? I have lost all my faith on Harbhajan! Useless fellow!! Bring on Kartik! Harbhajan is a spent force! If India dont get Zimbabwe out within 300, then this match is destined to be a draw which would be ugly for the Indian viewers!

Looks like Zimbabwe is doing much more than what I expected off them. But should be an easy win for India. I can foresee Sehwag massacring the hapless Zimbabwe bowlers

Good to see Zimbabwe isn't that bad. I am disappointed in Ebrahim and Coventry. They have good potential. Also Blignaut didn't do what he was expected.

Zaheer Khan is continuing with his great form from the Afro-Asia Cup.

Yeah, but too many no-balls though. 9 from Khan and 6 from Kumble, 20 no-balls overall.

Couldn't agree more. Harby seems to be washed out, already. Kartik needs more chances in ODIs before he's brought into tests though.

Excellent batting by Zimbabwe. 265/7 is not a bad score. Good bowling but too many extras.

Murali Kartik has taken 5 wickets in both innings in his debut county match in England! He deserves to replace Harbhajan! Let Harbhajan be dropped and asked to go back to domestic cricket!

Thats very impressive. But its still county cricket. I guess Kartik could be tried out in the second test, but definitely not against England later on, not unless he proves himself against Zimbabwe.

kartik took 10 on debut for Lancashire, plus he can bat a bit i think.

Is the general view on harbhajan in India that he shouldn't be in the team?

He has done so much in the past that it's hardly even a minority view. He will be in the team for atleast a few more years just because of his single-handed bowling performance against the Aussies in 2001. But, Kartik is bowling much better than him. I just hope the selectors choose on merit rather than past performances.

Also Harbhajan is Ganguly's favorite. Ganguly has shown his priority for Harbhajan over Kumble many a time! So Harbhajan might remain in the team till he redeemes himself (Dravid as a captain also kept Harbhajan floating in the team for the Sri Lanka tri series)!

I was wondering where all this anti-Harbhajan sentiment was coming from. I though he bowled beautifully in that 2001 series against Australia, has he never really re-captured that form?

From what I've seen of Kartik (admittedly this is not a great deal) he seemed like a good, but not potentially great bowler. Looking forward to the England series it will be with spin (obviously) that you can trouble them. Big decisions to be made!

It is not an anti-Harbhajan sentiment. It's been a long time since 2001. He hasn't been very effective since his return from the injury.
