I think the main reason India doesn't perform well overseas is because they dont play domestic t20 tournaments overseas.

Pepsi IPL is a tournament which not only offers money, but also opportunity.
The overseas players play IPL and they study Indian conditions. This makes them more aware about technique of playing here.

If Indian players travel overseas and participate in tournaments like KFC Big Bash, FLT20, Ram Slam t20, etc , they can perform well overseas.

Domestic T20 events should never be used as a tool to evaluate overseas performances.

Esp when you talk about Indian players and their Test performances wrt limited overs. Our limited overs performances have been better. What I think and that most of us will agree with is the rigidity in selection process which should corrected.

That drubbing Indian team got in England and Australia (and most recently South Africa) clearly shows how we've failed to convert the opportunities we created early in the series, and back to back losses made our side look like a sub-standard one.

I wonder if playing in all those T20 tournaments will make our team any good. Moreover, who wants to watch these leagues all over the year?

Now that we gave Sunil the important role, I can see the future being bright for India.

I definitely think playing more T20 cricket will help.

Ideally they should make sure they play on as many roads or dead/slow pitches as possible. They should also look to make sure they flog all seam bowlers into the ground from an even earlier age.

If that doesn't sort it out they should definitely make sure every home pitch they prepare is identically shit.

In the past (pre-IPL to some extent, but probably a lot more in the distant past); foreign players would play County Cricket a lot more since that got them some money before Central Contracts and big T20 leagues made it a much less lucrative option. Tendulkar played for Yorkshire for example (admittedly, only in 1992). That time gets them used to some very English pitches and conditions (especially in April, where it can be impossible to bat), which now they don't get since they spend April-June slogging on roads in the IPL and then the rest of the time on tour with India; which means that they don't get continual time in English conditions that they used to. I know India struggle elsewhere (in Australasia and the West Indies especially) but since you have Ranji Cricket you're more likely to see Indians play domestic cricket in England. Learning English conditions would make playing other conditions easier since you have experience with foreign conditions, which much help...

Only Kohli and Pujara are any good.
and rahanae, dhawan, vijay(all of them have shown they are up for it atleast in tests)...., its not batting thats of much problem, they are young give them some more time, end of aus tour would be the right time to actually pass judgement on them, in batting only MSD and jaddu have to prove themselves in overseas conditions.

Its bowling were we actually need help as our spinners are taken out of play in these conditions. So the reason we fail is mainly bowling stocks, pace bowling stocks to be more specific than anything else and idont think bowling improves by playing t20 anywhere.

No, really, you've got Ishant Sharma ... who will be sodomised by us later this year

We dont play well overseas because none of our batsman have any clue how to play the swinging/bouncing ball except for Virat , Pujara and maybe Rohit. We cannot turn all the pitches in India into greentops due to the climate. Maybe a season or two of county cricket will help.

Rahanae :yes

rohit:lol

----------

Virat , Pujara and maybe Rohit rahanae or dhawan or vijay.

fixed also how many overseas players are good against spin, every team will have only 2-3 batsman who do well in alien condition.

Rohit arguably has the best technique in the NT. It is more of a mental issue. He needs to rotate more when he starts an innings. That is what sets Virat and Che apart from other batsman in our test team.
