India tour of Bangladesh, 2022 (3 ODIs, 2 Tests)

Nurul’s keeping has been poor. For a supposedly good keeper it is shockingly poor.

Is Kohli finished as a test batter?

I reckon he can still do a job once he plays a few more tests. He’s not looked like someone who has degraded skill wise like Warner. Cross format excellence is tough though and this just keeps proving it.

India wrestling back the advantage via the Pant-Iyer partnership. Need at least a lead of 100-130 to be in the driver's seat. Still anybody's game this.

I’m dreading what they’ll do to Pant in the near future to ’anchor-ise’ him. Hope he stays away from such corrupting influences, man is a joy to watch in full flow.

I think his numbers are most alarming in test cricket. Average down, strike rate is down significantly too.

He never really dropped off in T20i and he's got nine 50s and one 100 in his last 23 ODI innings.

I wonder if the Australia series might be a last chance. I think players like him, Root, Smith deserve a longer rope when in a slump because they are proven but at some point you have to show some significant returns.

He's brilliant.

We’ve got plenty of domestic options to replace him with so I’m not particularly worried if he needs to be replaced. My worry is him staying on too long if he truly is becoming poor.

The numbers don’t look pretty but to the eye… he doesn’t appear that bad. He isn’t going to get back to his peak 2018 form but I can see him still being serviceable. The question will be if he’s worth it with smaller returns and experience in place of blocking entry of a potentially better player with time.

Why does he keep getting dismissed in the nineties? :rolleyes
5 century & 6 times Dismissed in the 90's Pant

In his career.

Partnership of 159 broken

94/4 when virat out

Now

259/5* pant out

He do not mind koz sachin dismissed in 90's -(28 times) in International
( Test & ODI)

Yeah, he often looks fine and then just gets out. I do think trying to push the game on in limited overs cricket has left him in a similar place Bairstow was. Flashes of the quality player he has been but consistently underperforming.

I worry the longer it goes on the more and more within himself he will go. I wonder if, when you perform at such a remarkable level over a long period, that when things go wrong it's more difficult to remember what exactly you did that worked.

Broad was telling a story about how, in the first test of the summer, Bairstow had got out for 1 and then 16 from 15 in the second innings. In the team talk at the end of the day they singled out his 16 as being great - because he showed intent and ambition to turn the game when England were struggling at 46 for 3. Apparently, this just lifted the weight of pressure off Bairstow. Next game he scores that wonderful 136 from 92 to win the match.
