India tour of WestIndies - June/July 2017

At one point you talk about India taking advantage of a "weak" WI squad and accuse it of scoring easy points and when that notion is squashed by aditya123, you jump in another direction by talking about WI away tours? I thought beating WI in WI is a bigger deal than beating them away from home.

So what exactly are you even debating about here?

Sure let me say if I could clear it up for you.

What am saying is that one off test wins against other countries (as Aditya alluded to) over a 16 year period is not indicative of West Indies being a strong or difficult team to beat.

In the other post I made higher up I ask the question as to why India are touring the Caribbean this year, out if the normal 4 yr period similar to the Pakistan tours during the same time period, (again as given by Aditya). Just to add he did not give any details on Bangladesh tours, even though he indicated Asian teams following similar cycles of tours to the Caribbean.

I went on to ask the question as to how many times have WI toured India as a way of adding shock value to my argument that India play West Indies over the last couple decades frequently in order to gain easy points and fuel and unholy alliance that started with the controversial Final in '83. Yes beating WI in WI means more than beating them in India but either way the WI are a weak team and most international teams have won on WI soil in the last couple decades so it doesnt hold much say.

Any further questions?

Edit; exactly how 'the notion' was squadhed?

I am not sure when these tours get planned, But if they are instant and by choice at any time then this is a smart move by both Cricket boards. Sending a weaker Indian team may result in loose and ultimately Windies can go up in rankings, Means some hurdles for direct qualification for Pakistan in World Cup, but oh well CT is here and things will get clear in the tournament.
How conveniently this series discussion turned into Indians creating hurdles for Pakistan? Come on dude grow up and improve your mentality. Get well soon. I have spoken and known a lot Pakistani friends here, we have never had any differences nor I have seen people with old school mentality. Not every thing India does is to hurt Pakistan and its vice verse, not everything Pakistan does is to hurt India. The sooner public realizes and puts it into respective brains, the world will be a happier place.

Let Pakistani players into the IPL then clme back and preach, youre the one need to grow up and smell the coffee!

This thread has kind of got out of control all of a sudden. What the hell does Pakistani players coming into the IPL have to do with India touring the Windies? Or even creating hurdles for the Pak team? All that is straightup bullsh*t.

I think this will be a good series for India to test out the new emerging Indian players, espacially Krunal Pandya and
Rana. Even for guys looking for form like Suresh Raina. I see this as a good oppurntunity for the selectors to check out some new talents.

Truth offends.

Whichever team they send should comfortably get a whipping!

Why does the series have to be about India only? Not everything is about India in cricket. Its a shame if you all send a second string side and deprive the caribbean people of stars like Kohli!

Never said that Indians intentionally created hurdle for Pakistan, I just had a question that how these series get planned. Later it was cleared that Pakistan has series against Srilanka and bangladesh as well. It wasn't meant to initiate any sort of off-topic discussion. Plus I said about both cricket boards not just BCCI. So we should get over it

I thought we'd have a second string squad, Rohit shouldn't have been rested as he is in great touch IMO.

Well its ssd to see where West Indies cricket is at this moment. They wont even qualify for World Cup directly and that is really sad and who knows with 10 team world cup they might even lose out to Ireland and Afghanistan

That's the result of their board's ridicolous policies. They selected their best team in T20s, and trashed Afghanistan.

It would be nice to see Rishabh Pant batting alongside Shikar Dhawan. This series would be Pant's chance to show that he is in line for being the next wicketkeeper, after Dhoni retires. Good opportunity for him.

Dont blame the board those players cant make themselves available for the domestic competition hence theyre not up for selection, instead they play IPL/BBL/PSL/BPL/RamSlam

Which is because they are no longer passionate to play for their country because of the board itself. Take one instance that happened to DJ Bravo. Before the 2015 World Cup, he wanted to play for WI and played in the domestic tournament, and was left out despite doing well. He could've played in one of the T20 leagues. That's the thing. The top players for the Windies are gradually losing respect for the board, which makes the selectors turn their back on them.

Possible he wanted to participate in the world cup. Furthermore playing in the domestic setup doesnt guarantee a place in the final 11. West Indies cricket is dead if they dont win this ODI series against India, since they'll have to go through a rigid pre qualifying phase with the Associates/Affiliates. How will this affect the FTP, possible we wont see Australia or England touring the Caribbean for the next decade, which would be unprecedented and sad really.

Cant see them defeating India. RIP West Indies cricket, always gonna be remembered for producing perhaps the best team of all time in the late 70s early 90s. The IPL has done them in raw and India gonna nail the final one in their coffin.
