India

That is brute pace by Indian Bowlers Standards :p
While we are talking about pace, i just remembered one incident from last ODI between NZ and Pakistan. Afridi has a hell of a shoulder. He bowled a 128 KMPH delivery with a spinners run up:eek:

He bowled a ball with 134KMPH in last T20 match.

If Sree fails to make impact, we can play two spinners + two pace bowlers. Zaheer, Munaf, Ashwin and Bhajji would do in this case.

They have to use 2 spinners, otherwise i see no logic why they picked 3 spinners if they were gonna play just 1.

If we count Raina, Yuvraj, Yusuf, sometimes Sehwag and Sachin, then we are overloaded anyways. No shortage of spinning options, although I do agree that Ashwin should be given a fair shot. Piyush, I don't think so.

^^ I would definetely play Piyush against Eng, for other matches it could be down to his form or that of other bowlers. Bhajji need not play against the minnow teams, I'll rotate those opportunities between Ashwin and Piyush.

I expect Piyush to play in important matches. Ashwin may play the off-game,should we qualify well in advance for the QFs and the management chooses to rest Harbhajan.
Piyush on the other hand will be an important weapon in MSD's arsenal. The leg-spinner sure will have some tricks up his sleeve.

Piyush is a leg-spinner, but being a leg-spinner isn't just enough to do well against England, He has been away for 2 years from international cricket and he looked rusty against SA in the last odi, i would definitely play Ashwin over Chawla..

I heard LSRK saying on a show that Ashwin has one more delivery in addition to the carrom ball which he will only start bowling in this World Cup. Wonder what it will be like...

LSRK might as well join Team India as its spin-bowling consultant, he was very good during his time at the crease.
On recent form, yes it does appear that Ashwin is the first choice, but with India you never know.

I don't know whether this is the right thread to ask the question, but will any of you be coming to the subcontinent to watch the games live? C'mon, I expect the NRIs at least to give the country a visit. :p

nah, I do plan on going to England for the next Ashes though and then Australia for the one after. I wouldn't want to watch cricket live in the SC. I wouldn't feel safe in the crowd, it seems very unruly and wild. Not to mention no beer at the stadium, that's an instant live sports killer.

I'm coming to Chennai for the India vs WI game. I have tickets booked and everything, really can't wait to go.
