NewZealand Vs Bangladesh
( Toss,Weather & Pitch Reports )

Welcome to the Mohali stadium for the Day/Night game between Bangladesh and NewZealand which is the first semi finals of this Champions Trophy. The crowd here is already excellent and it seems to be a wonderful atmosphere for cricket. Well, Mr.Geoffrey is waiting for us to give weather and pitch reports now. :)

Weather Report :
The conditions here are good with clear weather but little hot that wud be cooling down later this night. We are expected to get a full day's play without any doubts. Also there are chances of fog to be formed in later part of the game i.e during night.. So the game might be slightly disturbed. Anyways, exciting cricket is on the way within few moments & we move to the pitch report now!

Pitch Report

mohalipitchqj0.jpg

This is one of the larger grounds in the country and sports a lush outfield. The pitch has a reputation for being lively and supporting pace bowlers. Once again, the game is going to be played on grassy conditions. Well, in last match, batting turned a bit easy after few overs, but this wicket looks something different with more grass on the pitch. It pretty similar to NewZealand conditions and the bowling should be a threaten to batting. So the batsmen are going to be well tested as they have to be extremely watchful.

With these green conditions, Kiwis gain a upperhand in bowling over Bangladesh with strong bowling pace lineup of Bond,Franklin and Mills. There have also been some cracking one-dayers played on this ground, the most thrilling being the World Cup semi-final in 1996 when Australia squeezed past West Indies in a nail-biting finish.

Some More Facts on this Pitch :

* Highest ODI Score : 339-4, Sri Lanka v Pakistan
* Lowest ODI Score : 122, Sri Lanka v India
* Most Successful Batsmen : R.Dravid ( Avg : 45 )
* Most Successful Bowler : G.McGrath ( Avg : 17 )

Thanks for joining us in the pitch report and now we will straight away go to the Toss.

Toss : Bangladesh won the toss and selected to bowl first. Well, looking at the bowling conditions, there is no suprise in Ashraful's decision but we have to wait till the last ball and see whether this decision is correct :)

Teams

NewZealand

As said in pitch report, NewZealand seems to have a strong bowling line up with Bond,Franklin and Mills with support of Styris & Oram. The top order is once again going to be tested in this green conditions which has not clicked in recent games.

Bangladesh

banglalineuprf5.jpg

Bangladesh have promising players like Nafees,Bashar,Omar, Ashraful and Aftab. But against Kiwis bowlers especially against Bond, its going to be somewhat tough for batsmen.. All they need is watchfulness. Mortaza, so far had a great series with 9 wickets in 2 games & expected to enjoy here too. Bangladesh have to utilise the spin options quite cleverly in this bower friendly conditions.

So, the game is just going to start withing few moments and enjoy all the actions LIVE exclusively on Star Sports! :)

NewZealand :- 0/0(0)

M.Sinclair : 0*(0)

Bangladesh won the Toss.
Kiwis put into bat!

Haha Plympilgrim :p
But yes, C'mon Bangla!! Good decision, although this is the first time they have bowled first. Mashrafe, Shadat and Aftab have to perform well though, spinners have to keep things tight.

Its Mortaza Again!
( Sinclair Departs, Pitch assisting the Movement a lots! )

Well, Bangladesh players came out of the dressing room following the umpires and there was a huge roar from the Bangladesh fans. The supports of Bangladesh have been great in last two games. NewZealand openers Sinclair and Fleming followed the players and everything was set ready. Mortaza and Hossain are the new ball bowlers. Umpire asked Mortaza to proceed and both the batsmen had only one thing in common.. i,e " To be Watchful! ".

Sinclair,The Victim of Mortaza!

sinclairoutik7.jpg

Mortaza had a great first over and Fleming found very difficult to get rid of those deliveries which resulted in the maiden over. Hossain and Mortaza continued with the hopes of getting a early wicket. Both the batsmen were little uncomfortable due to the movement of the ball offered by the pitch. It was Mortaza striked with the early breakthrough by getting rid of Sinclair with the help of excellent fielding!

Sinclair got bit frustrated and tried to go over Mortaza in one of the deliveries which forced the ball to travel in air at low height. Razzak, who was standing there, made an amazing dive and took an amazing catch. Mortaza was very much delighted to strike early for Bangladesh.

Sinclair was disappointed a lots as its his second consecutive failure after making a return to ODIs after a long break. The entire Bangladesh team celebrated this wicket while Sinclair walked back to the dressing room with a worried face. Astle replaced Sinclair at the crease joining his skipper!

Mortaza Vs Fleming
( First Over )

mortazahwkeyexr3.jpg

The hawkeye displays the first over of the match which impressed almost everyone in the stadium including Fleming ;) Mortaza was trying to tease Fleming and waiting for him to make mistakes but NZ skipper was watchful enough that he survived the great first over.

After seeing this,Bond must have felt the feeling of hunger already in the dressing room to come and bowl in this wicket
:D

Well, just 5 Overs ended. Its not a good start by NewZealand so far as they have lost an early wicket of Sinclair and the scoring rate is just above 2 Runs per Over... but its a expected one in these conditions. Still a long way to go!
:)

NewZealand :- 11/1(5)
S.Fleming : 5*(12)
N.Astle : 1*(6)

Sinclair : 3(12) Dismissed by Mortaza.
Mortaza : 3O - 2M - 1R - 1W
