A low total from England but the pitch seems to be a good one for the bowlers. England have some really talented bowlers in their side which can make this match interesting.

Nice to see this story back, Surendar. :)

Nice. First update in like 4 months and just great. This has been one of the best stories ever.

Great innings from Strauss there to get England to an average total but the Aussie pacemen were just too good. I think Australia will just get over the line in this one.

That is a great piece of writing Surendar. Just now following your story and I'm Lovin It. One of the greatest story that exists and will remain as a legendary example.

This story looks great! Good to see you continuing it; it probably has the best graphics of any story I've seen recently.

The writing is mostly good, but I do have to admit spotting occasional grammatical mistakes here and there (mostly small things like not using the word 'the' in places and the overuse of dashes). These small mistakes don't happen often and in no way get in the way of the great story telling however :)

Yeah. Agreed about the small grammar mistakes. Saw a couple in that update but tbh, I mostly skim over it not paying too much attention to the grammar.

Haha! Now, this story section looks active. and really nice come back mate, I just loved every part of your upgrade. Looks to be a cheap total for the English, Australia should be winning. And I won't say any thing about the presentation, because you've done absolutely brilliant.

Suren Bhai, that update was as brilliant as most of your earlier updates.
Looks like English bowlers need to bowl in discipline if they want to win this one. Still, Aussies are my favs!

Well, well, well! This story is been incredible. 293 pages, Oh Godd! I've looked at just few upgrades, and it's phenomenal after seeing, and no words to say.

Thank you guys for the excellent feedbacks and views. It will always make me to go forward :)

btw, will you still be continuing your other story or just this one.

Since my C07 domestic roster is on another hard disk, I am not sure how soon I can resume, but definitely career of Suren Ram isn't over. It might resume sometime sooner too. :p

Oh yes, thanks. I will take a note of these. Basically those dashes were outcome of my office style of writing where we never used to complete the sentence i.e. briefing points.

Like, Point - It's importance
Point2 - It's importance
Point3 - It's importance and so on.

Sorry for that, I will try to get rid of it from next update.:)

Once again, Thank you for the feebacks/views. Next update is just around the corner. I have completed playing this finals & am preparing the updates for the same.

England Vs Australia - End of First Finals

With just around 230 runs to chase, Aussie openers arrived with great confidence. Haddin & Watson completely had no pressure in facing the new ball openers Anderson and Sidebottom. Strauss & co's intentions were very much clear from the attacking field placings i.e. wicket taking strategy to defend the small total on the board.

It's Strauss Vs Ponting - Classic Mind battle in Other Words!

matchstartbannerbrightn.jpg

There were too much of Aussie spectators in the stadium and they were simply jumping with the kangaroo dolls out of sheer excitement. In one of the corners of the ground, Sidebottom was found having his best time with the fans. Infact, Sidebottom danced along with the entire arena of spectators which made everyone laugh. :laugh [ For the Information, there was a similar real time incident that happened in Australia when England & Aus played some ages back during Hussain's era. The player who danced in real time was Irani ]

This absolutely indicates that, no matter whether England or Aussies win, fans seem to enjoy the pure cricket.

Watson & Haddin - Destructors of England's Hopes

update1l.jpg

New ball under lights became somewhat difficult to grip and it was also swinging the way too much for English bowlers. Anderson found very much difficult to deliver the ball in correct block holes & as a result of which, too many extras started to add in England's extra column. Strauss's continuous debate with Anderson helped him a bit, but Watto & Haddin utilized the short confidence of this bowler very well.

However, in the other end, Sidebottom had a complete control over the deliveries. He didn't try anything hard like his dance :p, but he just went on hitting the deck at right places. The opening partnership crossed 50 runs & frustrations just kept adding to English skipper, Strauss. The first bowling change was Broad & the situation went even worse. Broad was smashed in all directions & the pace was completely ineffective under lights.

Bowling Change @RIGHT TIME!!!

update2i.jpg

It was when Aussies were around 76 runs for the loss of no wickets, Strauss gave up with the fast bowling. He brought Colly & Swann as their last hope which was well rewarded. Colly's 3 wickets over stunned every Aussie spectator in the stadium.

Colly - Pietersen combo got two crucial wickets for England. Pietersen took some outstanding catches near the boundary ropes and hence, the break-throughs. Other dismissal of Colly was LBW where the ball didn't bounce to the level which batsman expected. Slow pace once again started to do the tricks. It's to be noted that Hopes did the same against England batters in the first innings & now, Colly!

Anderson was brought in again for a over and this gambling worked well for Strauss as he(bowler) managed to hit the deck hard finally in one of his deliveries & it resulted in a clean bowled! Aussies were under pressue for the first time in this match and they were 4 down for 83 runs with Ponting still at the crease.

Attacking fieldset - Clever Strategy of Strauss Under Pressure

update3.jpg

Though Ponting & Hopes did try to recover from the collapse, it was Colly all the way. YES, he stole the show. Colly's accurate line & length never gave batsmen any opportunities under the aggressive fieldset. Swann added flavor to this too. Swann and Colly shared 8 wickets among them in about 17 overs and made their skipper to fly to some 9th or 10th cloud. :p

Collingwood took 6 wickets and turned the tables for England single handedly. Melbourne is never going to be easy for batsmen & it proved to be even more difficult under lights & medium pace. The jumping kangaroo dolls were no more observed to be jumping. It was just barmy army chants everywhere! ;)

England WON The First Finals With PRIDE.

update4y.jpg

Aussies were all out for 167 runs with Collingwood taking 6 wickets, Swann taking 2 wickets while Sidebottom/Anderson shared a wicket each. Strauss & Co celebrated this outstanding success with huge excitement & marched back to pavilion with pride. Who could have expected that England would manage to defend this small total? In all ways, this is indeed a pride filled prestigious moment for the England team.

Final Scorecard

update5.jpg

May be, Aussie skipper dealt this finals with botherless manner? With a wonderful opening partnership, everyone expected Aussies to march towards the victory road without any troubles, but it was just a matter of time where Strauss was rewarded for his bold gambling strategy of sticking with Colly from nowhere. Well, with England winning this first of the three finals, they lead 1-0 & still CB series isn't over. Stay Tuned to find more. :)

Aus : 167/10( 36.3 Overs )
Eng: 228/10

England Lead 1-0 in CB Series Finals

Just thought of sharing/reminding the plan of this storyline which I shared some ages ago - This current series ( CB Series ) is the last series before the major tournament : World Cup 2007. I might not take the storyline of WC like the exact 2007 WC, but am thinking to do something which I did for my Champions Trophy! Lets see. :)

Love the screens. Haven't really read the whole thing though. AC09 makes it so good.

Damn Collingwood. He isn't that great. Nobody made a big score for Australia which cost them. Great update mate, another enjoyable read.

And do what you want for the WC. It will still be good. Be innovative.
