Hmmm, seems like the Aussies won't get their hands on the CB Series trophy at all. In real life they were defeated by India and now here by England.

It was nice to see you back reading this story :) Thanks a million.

it's been a while since i read this story, but i'm glad to see it's still going. it's one of the best stories ive ever read. and its good to see the presentation is always superb. so is the writin

Nice to see you back as well. Always gives a good feeling to hear from old members that they remember this story still. Thanks a lot. :)

The video just looks smashing. I think you really worked hard on it, and that blast me up. And the interview looks fantastic, neither me can do this and boy o, boy video has impressed. Geez, did you do it on your own?

I am glad that members liked it. It is basically video editing where I collected video from different clippings and edited accordingly. Yes, it took more time to synchronize 1) video 2) Audio with video.

Would like to mention again that I am gland that people like it. Thank you.

This is a great story, but I must say it is a tad funny that we have finally gotten to the 2007 world cup and its nearly the 2011 world cup. :D

Yeah, finally am also happy that this story has reached 2007 world cup. The intention behind this story's start - To depict the journey of Indian team to the World Cup 2007 and it has been achieved. Even I could not imagine to turn back and check how I have travelled this far in the story, but without doubts - FULL credits to the readers for all sorts of motivations and encouragement that drove me forward everytime.

Also I would like to say that, with this world cup, this story will come to an end - My storyline that started off in June 2006 will get its completion with the end of this World Cup. So, I would like to take time as much as possible to give my best through out this series. Hope members like it. In any point of time, if it's not looking good, members are always free to correct me.

Thanks a ton, again. :)

A good rescue work there by you on the video. and he totally figured out on saying he's better with the coach than as batsmen. And a Cubular presentation.

World Cup 2007
India in England
Special Edition 2

Battle Of The Champions- Edition 2, WC Group Divisions

cricketchatbanner.png

Hello and warm welcome once again for the Battle of the Champions' second editions for this World Cup. This time, we have someone who has huge reputation over the years, and we can also call him as one of the finest leaders of the cricket and also a person with great characters. Yes, it's none other than the great Ian Chappell.

Ian Chappell's view on the World Cup

ichaplchat.png

" If India has to win the World cup, it has to be through Sehwag & NOT Sachin! " - Ian Chappell

harshasmall.png
: It's time for welcoming our guest, Ian Chappell and it is always a great honor to be with him even in the commentary box. He is here with us now. Thank you for coming and joining us, Ian.

chappeltalksmall.png
: With Pleasure, Harsha. :)

harshasmall.png
: Right, with you having done a lots for the cricket.. You have been a standout performer in batting, you have been a top leader, you have had many great moments in your life both inside and outside the ground.. With an exceptional character all together, if you are asked to choose a team that deserves to win this world cup, who will you go for?

chappeltalksmall.png
: In one word, I would say, ENGLAND! Yes, I would put my money on England for this world cup. They haven't won a World Cup - True, they have not done well in the past which includes 1996, 1999, 2003 - True, but their current form is just dazzling. Having won the CB series other night, their confidence level should be greater now than the one they had during Ashes.

harshasmall.png
: That's an interesting pick, Ian. I expected you to say Australia though.

chappeltalksmall.png
: You mean the current Australian team under Ponting? Well, definitely I don't think they can even reach the finals. Ponting is the World Cup holder of 2003, but the team during that period contained the prime performers. Unlike the current side, 2003 world cup winning team had lots of potential to deliver the best. Also, when comes to the leadership, I would always have Steve Waugh first in my memory stack and not Ponting. ;)

harshasmall.png
: That is an interesting opinion to hear from one top leader on the other aggressive leader. :p

chappeltalksmall.png
: I always have the bad habbit of saying RUBBISH if I feel it's really RUBBISH. Even I remember saying the same rubbish to Buchanan when he appointed a baseball player for coaching the slip catches. :rolleyes

harshasmall.png
: ( ... laugh ... ) Poor Buchanan! Right, that's a different story all together. Well, talking about Steve Waugh, the person who remains as a great leader in you for the last decade.... what is your opinion on the Indian team which is coached by the same Waugh.

chappeltalksmall.png
: Stevie has joined the Indian side only in the last CB series. If you ask me about the Indian team, I will have to say that they have a very slim chance of getting into the finals. At the same time, I really hope that they prove me wrong because they do have many match winning potentials - Sehwag, Raina, Yuvraj and a master minded captain, Dhoni. Their ODI form of recent past doesn't project the Indian team as strong contenders to be frank.

harshasmall.png
: Yes, they have gone and going through a toughest rough patch. I really hope Stevie plays a good rescue role in bringing out this potential side out of the rough patch.

chappeltalksmall.png
: Also, If Indian team has to win this world cup, then it has to be through Sehwag and not through Sachin anymore. I mean, Sehwag really has the huge potential to break the bowlers confidence very early in the innings. His dominating role will be very crucial during the world cup. I still remember his triple hundred against Pakistan in Multan, where I was just cursing Tendulkar to get away from Sehwag's way because, he(Sachin) was just slowing down Sehwag's speedy runs through his advises. :p

harshasmall.png
: Players like Sehwag, Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni have to really lead from front and deliver more than their best to reach that pride. Well, regarding Tendulkar, I don't want to say anything because, the person himself is going speak few words giving out his opinion. :)

harshasmall.png
: Yes, it's Sachin Tendulkar on a special edition - " Player's Shout ".

World Cup Specials

sachintalksmall.png

" Yes, it's a big dream for each and everyone of us to grab that golden trophy. To represent a country used to be my biggest dream when I played school cricket and I did it. Now, to be a part of a World Cup winning team is my next biggest dream, and am sure that we will achieve it this time. Last time we missed it, but it's history now. At present, we are concentrating hard to be focussed on the game and try to achieve the best we could."

harshasmall.png
: Yes, it's the biggest dream for any player representing the country, isn't it?

chappeltalksmall.png
: That's just not big, it's huge. ;) Like Tendulkar pointed out, the Indian team really need to be focussed on the game right from Day 1 of this world cup.

harshasmall.png
: Right, with Tendulkar responding his opinion to us, we also have another special edition where the captains are going to voice out what they feel about their team too.

harshasmall.png
: It's none other than, Ian's favorite captain(:p) - Ricky Ponting, the current WC defending captain on the special edition - " Captain's Shout! "

World Cup Specials

pontingtalksmall.png

" After having a disappointed tournament in home, I am sure that guys are pumped up to get back to their best in this tournament. We always have 'Keep Winning' as the attitude and am confident that guys will cope up beyond the expectations and succeed to defend this prestigiouos title for the third consecutive time! "

chappeltalksmall.png
: Yes, that 'Keep Winning' attitude was the one which Stevie and his team cultivated as the habbit. You need to have if you are going to be a champion.

harshasmall.png
: Well, before ending this show, we would also like to show the official team splittings i.e. the preliminary group information for the coming World Cup 2007.

World Cup Groups

groupfinalpng.png

chappeltalksmall.png
: Both the groups look tough to me, May the best win the best! :)

harshasmall.png
: Thank you very much once again, Ian for coming here to this show and giving us your opinions about the forthcoming ICC World Cup.

chappeltalksmall.png
: Thanks, Harsha!

harshasmall.png
: So, that it from our end. We will soon catch you again for the next edition to discuss the teams in the group in detail. Till then, bye from the studio. If you have missed any of our previous editions, don't worry, you can always log on to PlanetCricket to see back the things happened. Good bye. :)

That's a good interview there from Ian Chapell. Chapell mentioned that "if India wants to win the world cup it has to be through Sehwag and not Sachin." I agree with this. When Sehwag gets going he makes quick runs and that takes away the pressure from the batsman who is batting with him and the batsman's who are going to come to bat.

England surely have a good chance of winning the world cup. They have won the CB series and there confidence would be high.

Great update there Surendar. The update clearly shows the efforts you are putting into this story. It's amazing to see that this story is going from last 4 years and still your commitment towards this story is amazing. Keep it up my friend. :)

For the information, I have added a poll for the next series. Other thing which I would like to do is, re-alignment of my first post of this thread, which I will do when time permits. :)

India gonna find it tough with England and South Africa in same group.
SriLanka can be the dark horses and also Pakistan might be able to turn a few things up. I don't have any expectations from Australia.

The biggest challenge for India is surely England, considering their recent form, the team looks strong and looks a complete unit having a great set of players.

But I will still favour India over anything in this world with their batting and bowling both in form though they didn't manage to reach the finals.
2003 was history, India can rewrite the history this time. And I think Tendulkar-Sehwag opening combo gonna be very important.

Surendar, but isn't it Dravid who was the captain at WC07? I know you're making it innovative, but just asking and Raina also never played at the WC07.

BTW, the updates were awesome and I know its dead hard to do that video.
Will be following it till it ends. After this end, you can work on the 2010 T20 World Cup or the upcoming 2011 World Cup.

Why ain't Netherlands playing?! and for India, they have to pick the best players and think it shows both sides is capable of dominating each other at times. Having a balanced side with good all-round players is obviously more important for the ODI for them.

I have to say, your presentation is the best I've ever seen for a story. The way it's presented and the graphics you've made are amazing and must take a lot of time.

The storyline behind it as well is pretty good, and rather realistic. Some of the writing isn't the greatest though, with some grammar problems and some phrases that I don't think people such as the ones included in your stories would say :p

I do find it quite funny how you include smilies though :p

Agreed. This is one of the best stories ever. If only he had more time to update it :p

The good thing is that though he doesn't have a lot of time, he never rushes an update and posts it when he has had some time to write it up well.

Actually, in my story line, Dravid was sacked from captaincy after a poor show in the tour to SA. Added to it, Dhoni + Yuvraj were all in the CT2006 in my storyline. So as per my storyline, I think players are dropped & recruited correctly. Let me know if you find any deviation.

You made me agree to Ian Chappell first time ever in my life. :p

Even I won't generally agree to Ian Chappell. :p

Unfortunately, Netherlands is not there in AC09 :( I would love to have, but oh well, with 12 teams I think it will be apt to handle the size of the series.

Thanks a lot. I do admit that I really struggled in the last two updates that included the interview i.e. I felt it damn tough to do an interview update compared to the match updates. While doing an interview, as a writer, I tried to involve myself as those characters but I guess, it's output hasn't come like the real life ones.

Also regarding grammar problems, please be feel to spot those & I am happy to correct those. I am moving towards the end of this story line completion and I would like to end this without any disappointment to the members .

Thanks a lot again. I really hope that I get some ample time someday. :( To be honest, the feedbacks & encouragement from readers & other writers here are the main reasons which always motivate me to go forward everytime.

Thank you guys for the feedback and views. I will try my best to update tomorrow. Updates coming soon. :)

Finally, I managed to revamp first post of this story and have updated the index till CB series now. Hope it's alright and let me know if any link doesn't work.

First Post - Revamped! :p

Also, the next update coming soon. Stay Tuned.
