FOURTH UMPIRE
(With Ravi Shastri and Ian Bishop)

R.S : Welcome to the Fourth Umpire. Here we will be dicussing about Day1's play between India and WestIndies. First of all, we had a wonderful cricket the whole day!!! well Bishop, after lunch, Windies bagged three important wickets and then Sachin and Dhoni set the path till the end of day's play... What do u think of this???

I.B : Ravi, i shd tell that the day belonged to India!!! Windies threatened but didnt do any damage.... Those three wickets were by the part timers. So specialist bowlers like Lawson,Edwards,Powell,Bravo all seems to be threatening but no serious damage done by them. Sachin played well and ofcourse Dhoni also gave a superb support.

R.S : Talking about the bowlers, the part timers were effective but not the specialist bowlers as u said.... But what i wonder is Lara was continously switching Hinds and Gayle but took time to bring Lawson.... I dont understand why he hesitated to bring Lawson....

I.B : Lara wants wicket by some means.... As its was parttimers who got three quick wickets... he believed that he can continue the same for remaining 7 wickets. But to be honest Gayle bowled a superb spells... He was the pick of the bolwers today. I think Gayle at one end and Lawson or Edwards at other end shd have done something different.

R.S : Yep Bishop... I agree that Gayle bowled a wonderful spell... He gave himself more than 100 percent... Also our stats shows the same,

OUTSTANDING GAYLE

I.B : This shows that Gayle's Line and length was perfect. Dravid's wicket might be exception as i can say that its a suicide as it was the delivery going away from legstump. But remaing deliveries are exceptionally superb!!!!
Also in the bottom of the screenie, it shows one of the over to Sachin where he just concentrated between midlle and off stump line.... No bad delivery at all... He was bowling at a slow pace and turning the ball a lot.... That made ebatsmen more difficult to play.... Sehwag's wicket is a fine example where he just turned a lot!!!! So its no doubt that Gayle has done an outstanding job!!!

R.S : yep Bishop, I think Lara must have adjusted the field little more flexible according to Gayle's Line and length.... When u have a man bowling at a nice line... U should never mind in doing these things.... The one wicket at the last session wud have made a difference!!!!

I.B : One gud thing with Lara is he was so busy with the bowling changes but at the same time i feel that he failed to bring right bowlers in time... For example, He was continously operating with Hinds inspite of being smashed by Sachin. Bringing Lawson at the time when Tendulkar was in free flow wud have made Sachin to commit some silly mistake... Lara shd have experimented this.

R.S : You have got a another gud point Bishop.... i also wonder what is special with Hinds when Sachin was smashing him..... Hind's main advantage is his slow and moving delivery... But if that was smashed all over then there is no reason to keep him in the attack... We have got a stats for that also,

INTERESTING AND ENTERTAINING CONTEST

I.B : That stats is interesting... I think Lara must see this.....The two massive sixes from the slow deliveries and all the fours in one direction. These fours were picked on the deliveries that moved from off to middle stump line.... This also shows Hinds's bad line and length.i.e he kept on trying the same line.... Either Hinds shd have changed the line or Lara shd have changed Hinds.

R.S : :cool: well said... But some credit goes to Hinds also becos he remained the main reason for Sachin's slow approach at the end.... After the LBW shout, Sachin really kept quiet till end of the day... Do u agree with this?

I.B : Sachin's slow approach is not going to bring benefit to Windies and also it brings danger becos Sachin is still at the crease.....

R.S : It all happens in the game of cricket.... But Lara did a another good thing towards the last session by bringing Edwards.... He really bowled an amazing over... The stats show this superb over!!!!

EDWARDs's BRILLIANT LAST OVER

I.B : Thts a brilliant over... I still remeber myself enoying that over... As a bowler i know how difficult the batsman will feel at those line and lengths... Well i ve bolwed these many and irritated many batsmen

R.S : Its extremly tough when u are facing those fast deliveries in that line... It will luk as if its going to break ur face But Sachin did an fantastic job..He just bent down and let it pass to the keeper... So i think keeper might have faced more difficulty in collecting those!!!!

I.B :

R.S : Also, Dhoni is one of the important customer today who played a silent role at first and then attacked and again remained silent at the end.


I.B : I ve seen Dhoni playing aggressive like Gilchrist... But this is the first time i saw him playing like Dravid... i.e played an responsible role today and helped the little master too....


R.S : Thats a great innings by both... They really irritated the windies bowlers also especially Hinds. This is what our spider and wagon wheel says,

I.B : There u can see the way both of them played. Sachin was all over the ground and Dhoni enjoyed the front foot!!! Both of these really took the game out from windies.

R.S : Where do u think that this match is heading towards?

I.B : This depends on tomrw morning session. If Windies do a early damage they are going to gain upper hand... else India is going to fly away from Windies!!!!

R.S : So tomorrows play is going to be an interesting one.... Morning session usually belongs to bowlers.. Lets see what happens tomorrow... The first hour is going to be crucial one. Summarizing the score card,

DAY2 --- 8.00 am

Its been a good day for Indians yesterday. But the things might turn anyways anytime.

COACH IN THE GROUND

Indian Coach,Chappell is just spending time in pitch and trying to understand the nature of the pitch and observing the weather!!!! He should have decided the strategy of the play today!!!! This is what the coach said yesterday night,

Well, Sachin,Dravid, Viru and Dhoni all did well!!! but still we have a lot of work to do.... The failure of Jaffer and Yuvi may be due to the problem of adjusting to the new environment. They are good players... But this generally happens when the team leaves to abroad and adjust the style accordingly!!! Also its their first tour to Windies!!!! They are working hard anyways!!!! Only thing i can say is the game is nicely balanced.

INDIAN SKIPPER CHECKING THE CONDITIONS

Indian Skipper, Rahul Dravid is also spending time in the pitch to make his plans clearly!!! these seems to be a good signs for India as they are well planned!!!! Indian skipper just checking with the Windies groundsmen there about the conditions and weather. This is what the skipper said to the media yesterday,

Its tough to predict the chances here... It all depends on the conditions of Day2!!! The only thing i can say for the moment we are working hard as this is a important tour for us!!!!
