With Windies well on track to the victory, they didnt find difficult to reach the total in the end! Lara, though required rate was low, punished the bowlers to maximum extent... Also the bowlers were able to get these two wickets ( Gayle and Lara ) in the end but it was too late for Aussies!

Lara's Dominance Over the Bowlers!

Lara who was roaring in one end, continued the same aggression even when Lee and McGrath were brought back into the attack. Ponting was hoping to do some magic with Lee and McGrath but it ended in other way.

Lara went wild over Lee smashing back to back sixes! Lee was extremely disappointed with Lara's approach and nothing seemed to go right for Aussies and added to this disappointment of Lee, Lara smashed a four in the same over! It looked Windies are going to win with lots of over to spare....

Finally, Lara Walked Back To Pavilion!

McGrath, atlast though it was too late, put an end to Lara's fireworks. He bowled a superb delivery that was moving away from the left hander and Lara's big mistake was trying to defend the ball which resulted in an simple edge to keeper! Gilchrist took the catch at ease forcing Lara to return to pavilion!

Lara made a quick 81 Runs and was very unlucky to be dismissed without a century. There were no celebrations from Aussies side as they were well aware of the defeat! Windies roared when Lara was returning to dressing room and Windies spectators were still enjoying the music as the victory was too near to them! Infact Lara himself proudly returned to dressing having done his skipper role properly!

Gayle Also Joins Lara in Pavilion

Brett Lee striked with the wicket of Gayle very soon after the wicket of Lara! Gayle continued the aggression left by Lara... but still Ponting did not change the bowling of McGrath & Lee even though they went for runs! Lee in one of the deliveries to Gayle, bowled very short and Gayle smashed it in attempting for a huge one but unfortunately the ball landed in Ponting's hand who was standing near the boundary! ( Its very very rare to see Ponting fielding near the boundary )

Aussies were bit happy becos they didnt allow this big man of Windies to remain unbeaten! Aussies were trying to get these two out for a long time and they were only able to succeed when it was too late,infact almost all over for Aussies! The score was 268 when Gayle departed!

Finally, Sarwan and Chanderpaul were able to get the remaining runs which was just around 6 that resulted in the dream victory for Windies!

Final ScoreCard

Sarwan scored the Winning runs and the Whole team in Windies dressing room were delighted to win a tournament! Windies players came to the field and exchanged the warm handshakes with Aussies and started celebrating! Aussie team was disappointed and another thing that was worrying Ponting and coach was, they were never able to win Windies in this tournament!

Just found other interesting thing,
In poll, there were 20 votes for Aussies which will remain greater even if we add the votes of India and WestIndies!

Thats a big disappointment for Aussie fans! But as said in one of the posts, Windies did well through out the tournament!

1) India : 4-1-3-0 ( They managed to win only one game against WestIndies )
2) Aussies : 5-2-3-0 ( They lost all the games against Windies )
3) WIndies : 5-4-1-0 ( They lost only one game against India )


The above shows the consistency of Windies in this tournament! Also its not a big loss for Aussies as well as for Indians here as the bigger cup ( most important compared to DLF )," Champions Trophy " is on the way!
