IPL IPL Player Auction 2011

We can't even watch them in county cricket

I can ;).

They are going to much better off playing some County Championship to get ready for Indian test Series. While India will be bashing it in IPL. This might not have worked out really for Stuart Broad tbh. Struggling to keep his place in the test team, and now he will be away when Tremlett and Finn etc. will be playing county cricket.

Tbf though, aren't the hosting of the IPL and the Indian Test Series fairly far apart? Isn't the IPL held in April/May and the Indian test series is at the back end of July into August.

I'm not overly bothered about English players being picked or not being picked because to me this league is still very hit and giggle rather than something serious. This isn't cricket, it's economics.

I hope the money and IPL doesn't go to Pujaras head like so many others (Ishant). He could be a great test player.

that's modern cricket.

you do your time in domestics, but if you make it through to the international stage it doesn't take long before you're earning $$$, I share the same worries ferg. He's sweated blood to get a call up to the test side but now everything is on a plate for him.

Kochi are just increasing CSK bids price :p

I can ;).

Oh yeah whoops, although they will be playing Sri Lanka around then, I think. Broad would be lucky to get picked for that side. Completely agree about it being hit and giggle. An the quality of cricket is not great, but it is exciting to see various international players playing together.

this is why player retention should have been up at at least 8, and maybe even a full XI.

teams want the continuity, there was some team building going on, guys were forming understandings, managements were finding a balance. why make everyone go through all that again?

Gosh, CSK seems to have come with only one idea - Buy back all of their previous players (except a few). A few teams have understood this strategy and are indulging in the bids to increase the price and put CSK in a hole. Badri was not worth that much of money. Whats Chennai's purse right now?

That would have surely happened if the 2 new franchise weren't introduced.

Couldn't agree more, and this is why the tournament is a little bit of a joke. I have a feeling Colly's retirement has helped him out a little...
