IPL IPL Player Auction 2011

I suspect this will only increase English suspicion of the IPL. Bollinger goes for 700k but Anderson, Swann, Prior all unsold?
Mind you it can only help our test team.

I think franchise are thinking of english players' availability for full season due to county cricket..

With the ECB's views on the IPL and not letting they're players play for as long as they would like, I'm sure it won't really bother them. But, if the players aren't picked then you can safely say England will use the UDRS in the series in the summer.

I'm not too surprised TBH.
Anderson was never an OD specialist, let alone T20.
As for Swann,i guess he'll be bought tomorrow in the last round, when they sell the leftovers.Vettori was pretty easy for our batsmen,so Swann may not be as effective anyway.
Very happy with DC's position ATM,with 3.5 Mil still in the purse.I suspect we'll aim for Tait tomorrow along with an overseas allrounder and a bunch of local batsmen (probably the local Rayudu).

I am surprised that no team made a bid for Ryder. He certainly isn't the worst hard-hitting batsman in the world, bowls reasonably well and above all has complete availability as New Zealand Cricket has created a separate window for the IPL. Expecting Ryder to get picked up by a team after the end of tomorrow's auction.

No questioning his skills, but the problem is that he will get injured somehow.

@Yudi: Delhi really looks terrible ATM. :p

PS: RR bidding 900k for Botha is crazier than Gayle attracting no bids.Probably done for the sake of their sponsors. :p

The person who was saying Preity's Films becomes flop should know that she has of late not been working in movies and after KKR's decision to not bid for Sourav he will lose popularity and fan following in Bengal especially Kolkata:p

And Coming to todays auction it was average but the highlights being the players being unsold : Swann,Gayle,Lara and others
about my favourite team and the team i have followed for the past three IPLs Delhi Daredevils they did well to get back Warner but Irfan was too expensive and undeserving with the current form and we did to Rajasthan what RCB did to us i.e.buy our players and i expect Morny,Finch and Naman to perform well for us and Hopes was a good choice too but the things we are currently lacking are good spinner and and a good Indian pacer to accompany Morny(all Zaheer,Nehra and Praveen sold:noway) but i am really happy about our opening with Sehwag and Warner as main openers and Ojha as backup even though we will miss Gambhir being sold to KKR for 11.04 Crores($ 2400k ) but it was his performances for us especially the ones in the Inaugural IPL that worked in his favour :D

I've been looking at the players sold. Now, I am a massive jayawardene fan. I think he's criminally under-rated (the ol' only a flat track bully tag), is as classy as batsmen come but why oh why is he the most expensive overseas player bought?

he's probably a better twenty20 player than some give him credit for but he's nowhere near the best one out there.

Sehwag: Certainly
Warner: Probably
Morne: Not sure

What about the rest?
Got some work to do tomorrow. :p

Pune needed an experienced skipper, which probably earned him a bit more than what one would have expected.
Surely worth 1 M though.
