Irfan Pathan Back On Track. Is this his new begninning?

And being slapped by Ganguly?

Yes, while his rein was on he brought them down, but he may be the catalyst for their current success.

At the time the Indian team were a bunch of stuck-up demi-gods, but Chaps did bring them back to earth.

Greg Chappell certainly didn't do Indian cricket any good, but he did give it the kick-up the ass it needed at the time.

He started well, and I kind of liked him in the beginning. But with time, he got more and more bossy as well as over-possessive, and was a total ███████ in the last year of his regime.

Yep, just like leading the Indian team to a first round loss in the WC with horrible selection and making a total mess of team chemistry.

No Rohit, I think Gazza is right. Greg Chappell might have been a failure in producing the required results, but what he wanted to do while he was coach finally became true after he quit as coach - the youngsters came in and started delivering. The likes of Raina, Gambhir, Dhoni, Ishant, Sreesanth, Ojha, etc came and delivered. And the senior players started phasing out their games (they dont play T20's and Dravid, Laxman dont play ODI's). At that time, the rule of the seniors was heavy and it was being detrimental.

While Greg was there, we knew how to keep a winning streak going (17 wins while chasing). After Greg, we have improved upon it and now we are Number one in tests and we were Number one in ODI's for a brief period (now we are No. 2). Greg acted as a shake up to our system. He came with the perfect intentions. But he used horribly poor methods to achieve it.

Wasim Akram saw something special in him back in the day, and I take his opinion slightly more seriously than yours. :p

Wasim Akram also said that Sohail Tanvir would be the next big thing

I think I read somewhere that Irfan Pathan has one of the better records in winning games.

Meaning that most of the time when Irfan plays, India wins.

Not sure which format, I think tests.

Tanvir hasnt played much, I guess. Whenever he played, he has looked impressive. Wasim also talks high about Mohammed Aameer who is now hailed as a very bright future after his good showings in international cricket. All of those whom Akram praises are really impressive. How their career eventually shaps up is in their hands. Akram cant predict that.

Irfan is a better than Tanvir. But Tanvir can at times produce one odd spell with the ball which can bamboozle the opposition
