Irfan Pathan Update

The reason why I find Zaheer and other Lefties better than him is variation. You can't always get wickets with the indipper. Sure it's very handy to have, but if every ball goes the same direction, than you aren't going to get wickets. I think Pathan tried to vary but lost pace in doing so.

I'm a pretty big fan of Zaheer. I think he's underrated, which makes him all the more appealing. Irfan Pathan was good, but I think he started focusing too much on his batting. While doing so, he lost his rhythm. He has many years left, so I'm sure he'll be back. But he'll have a lot of competition - RP Singh, Munaf, and Sreesanth are growing as bowlers. And Zaheer is the automatic pick. Agarkar is a strange character - somtimes exceptional, sometimes horrible and the selectors have picked him for England. I personally don't find VRV's bowling exceptional...he's average at best, but they're keeping him for his pace, I guess.

If you just look at how many bowlers India is stocking, it seems as if they're going to do a rotational policy with them to keep the competition high. There's already a lot of competition in the batting department too. Even the wicketkeepers are competing.

This seems like a huge mess right now but hopefully in 4 years, it'll be sorted, and the best performers will be selected for the WC. It's actually really smart of them since players all over the world are complaining that there is too much cricket being played. They wont get worn out and the team will benefit at the same time.
