He's done his cruciate. Maybe if Quagliarella can get a run of games, he'll make it back into the Italy setup.

Yeah, I've always liked him as a striker. However, he's really struggling for game time at Juve. :/ Heck, they [Juve] don't even start Vidal in their XI who was reputed to be the 'signing of this season's Serie A', so this doesn't at all come down as a surprise.

So Di Natale's winning yet another recall to the national side. My XI would look something like this:

------------------------Balotelli---------Di Natale------------------

----------------------------Montolivo/Aquilani/Marchisio-------------------------

-------------Nocerino(?)-------------Pirlo-----------De Rossi---------

----Criscito---------Chiellini-------------Ranocchia--------------Maggio/Abate-------

-------------------------------------Buffon---------------------------------------------

Really need to sort out our LB issues...

Give Aquilani or Marchisio a chance instead of Montolivo.

And what happened to Rossi?

Ye good to see Di Natale get a call, he should be in the Italian team a while ago. But they had to pick him now with the injury issues to Cassano and Rossi.

Think Montolivio is got the position as the "triquesta" in their 4-3-1-2 formation locked down. Plus Pirlo and De Rossi are certain starters. So Aquillani/Marchiso/Nocerino/Motta are battling for one spot in mid-field.

Maggio certainly has the right-back spot locked down, down think their any ambiguity about him in that role. Abate is still very much his understudy.

Also although I dont think Cristico is the greatest left-back, they have Palermo's Balzaretti who i reckon i pretty good.

Marchiso's been in awesome form this season and should definitely be playing.

Marchisio and Nocerino both deserve chances alongside Pirlo, and De Rossi too cannot be rejected. So Montolivo has to miss the game.

His previous two games are also considered poor. So Marchisio and Nocerino do have a good chance of benching Montolivo.

I love that man but I'm afraid to say that he's been rubbish in his last 2 games up there and was replaced in the interval against Uruguay.

Also it's only Montolivo, not Montolivio. :p

Saw only highlights of the uruguay friendly, but nothing of the Poland game.

Going forward i guess it depends on what Prandelli wants between now and Euro 2012, since only recently he has settled on this new 4-3-1-2 formation with Montolivio as the triquesta.

Pirlo's free-kick goal was superb - people rave about Xavi and Scholes as mid-fielder magicians - but they tend to forget Andrea the great these days.

Seems to have gone quiet, this thread, so time for another bump.

Roma's 1-0 home win over Genoa tonight further heats up the race for the third and final Champions League spot. Yesterday saw a cracking game at Friuli between Udinese and Napoli end at 2-2, with Napoli fighting back from 2-0 down courtesy of a brace from Cavani (who also missed a penalty), having bossed almost the entire game, inspite having Lavezzi and Hamsik starting from the bench.

3. Lazio 48
4. Napoli 47
5. Udinese 47
6. As Roma 44
7. Inter 41

I think it's safe to say Inter won't be playing Europe next season. That includes the Europa League too.

Don't watch much Italian football, but when I have, I have been very impressed by Erik Lamela. What does someone who watches a fair bit of Italian football (or at least of Roma) make of him?

Haven't been following Serie A either, but I really liked him in the only game I saw him play (against Milan as a second half substitute).

There you go..

I quite Lamela, he's clearly a talented player but he's quite very hit and miss in Roma's system. He's not direct enough so he'll spend too much time trying to work around and through the middle but not make enough incisive runs/passes.
