Italian Football Thread

Ha crazy weekend for goals for amazing across europe. Hernanes goal in rome derby tonight adds to the list.

Zanetti has snapped an achilles tendon, he's insisting he can make a come back but common sense dictates that, at 40, it's not likely. (although, I made this post - http://www.planetcricket.org/forums...ian-football-thread-22029-33.html#post2466882 - a bit earlier and given his inability to be weathered by life in any way maybe it is possible )

now, it's probably pretty obvious I follow milan in italy and thus don't really care for inter very much, but he is an absolute legend of the game and in the running for one for the all time XI right back spot and even though he's been driving inter on for years I will be sad to see him go.

Any other injury and I would totally believe a comeback is on, but a ruptured Achilles tendon...

Lazio were on fire today. Klose was lethal & how is Hernanes not a regular starter for Brazil as yet?

Ye the boy is a big player, probably better than Ramirez & Oscar, but given he is playing in Italy, i reckon the general media doesn't hype him as much.

Bergonzi had a shocker, cost Fiorentina a Champions League place with a strange penalty decision.

Bergonzi never fails to disappoint. Easily the worst ref I've ever witnessed. Add another tool in Rizzolli, who's going to ref the CL final... :facepalm

there has been tons of complaining about the refs in serie A this season. I don't know if it's a hang up from calciopoli that's lead to everyone being suspicious or what but it seems pretty much every round has been followed by a barage of suspicions.

the milan penalty was soft, but I think it's being over-played a little because some of the clubs, fiorentina and inter most notably, have spent the whole season cultivating a victim complex.

that said, the refereeing has been poor in serie A, but some teams are shouting conspiracy when it suits them. fiorentina were given an incredibly soft penalt against milan just last month, and then the ref failed to give a clear handball penalty to milan in the last minutes. more consistency is needed bu it's swings and roundabouts.
