Jan 3-7: 5th Test: Australia v England at Sydney

Interesting review. Hotspot reprieves the batsman, but there was clearly a noise. The curious thing is that while UDRS lbws trust the on-field umpire, the edges do not.

That's a good point you raise there mate. Judging from what I've heard, it seemed Bell hit it. I guess when things aren't going your way, 50-50 calls don't tend to go in your favour.

Well from what i saw was Bell had to consult Prior Before reviewing. Wouldn't you know if you hit or not?? Why Ask??

Also, there was a noise, and a spot. Although, DAMN SMALL.

Ironic that if Hussey was dropped before the series as so many wanted him to be, we would probably be staring at 5-0.

Maybe he didn't know because the edge was so fine, hence the tiny spot.
If he did know for certain would he have asked for the review? Probably not.

"From the Sherminator to the Terminator"

best line ever.

Good on you Bell, this was by no means a pressure less knock. Pitch has a lot of life in it and I reckon England will use it to it's full potential.

Grow some balls and declare with 10 overs left, pick up 2 and this match is as good as Englands.

Bell gets his hundred. Looks like we'll have to wait for the declaration here.

Well done to Bell.. really should be batting above Pietersen mainly because KP has the ability to hit out with the lower order not because he is a worse bat

Question to the english blokes who are you gonna look to put in Collingwood's spot? Any young talent? At least your no longer all calling for Ramprakash like the good ole days ahha

The pitch has got a lot less life in it that it had at the start of the day, but I have doubts as to whether several of the batsmen could bat in good conditions anyway.

Bell should have been out earlier though. Dunno what the umpirers were doing but hot spot showed that he hit it :facepalm

Or listen to Nasser and bat till the end of day 4 just to rub the Aussies face in the dirt. :p

I don't agree though, the should definitely go for the win.

Well done to Ian Bell. He has done well here this afternoon. What would be the score that England will be looking to declare on. Around 200-250?

Wow, I expected the Aussies to show some fight in the last match of the series. They are getting hammered here by the English. England are sure to wrap up this series.

I think they should give Hildreth an opportunity to come in for Collingwood. I may be being biased as he's a Somerset lad but he's a quality bat his record this season showed that. He's really matured and his technique is excellent.
