Spanish international Jos? Reyes, 20, has today joined Arsenal from La Liga side Seville, subject to a medical.

Reyes, who can play either in midfield or up front, has represented his country at all youth international levels, and has already made four appearances for the full Spanish national team, scoring his first two goals in a 4-0 victory at Armenia in a EURO 2004 qualifier last October.

Jos? joined Seville at the age of nine, and starred in the first team at just 17, helping the club return to Spain's top division during 2001/2002.

Reyes has been a regular in the Seville first-team for over two seasons now, scoring 22 goals from his 82 appearances in all competitions.

Manager Ars?ne Wenger said: "Jos? Reyes is a fantastic signing for Arsenal Football Club. He is a very talented young player, who can play in midfield or as a supporting striker. He can play on the left or on the right, in fact, anywhere as an offensive player. Jos? will be a great asset to our squad."

After completing his move to the Gunners, Reyes said: "I am sad to be leaving Seville, but also happy, as I am joining Arsenal - the best English team. I am really looking forward to playing in the English Premier League and working with Arsenal's world class players."

Jos? Reyes will immediately join up with his new team-mates.

Ars?ne Wenger believes new-signing Jos? Reyes will fit in perfectly with the free-flowing style of his Arsenal side.

The transfer of the versatile Spanish international was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon, subject to a medical. Reyes, 20, has been used in a number of roles for his former side, Seville, and Wenger believes his qualities will dove-tail nicely with those of his new team-mates.

?We have a game based on movement, technique and pace,? said the manager. ?Reyes has all that.

?He is only 20-year-old and he is already an international. He can play as a striker, on the left or the right. In fact, anywhere as an offensive player.

?At Seville, he has played on his own up front or as a supportive striker. Recently he was playing on the left because they have gone for two tall strikers up front with lot of crosses coming in.?

That will be music to the ears of Thierry Henry, who likes Reyes, came to Highbury as a fast, left-sided attacker with a developing reputation. Now the Frenchman is part of the fixtures and fitting at Highbury, and, as Wenger commented earlier this week, has grown to see the club as his home.

Reyes will be able to join Henry in the Champions League when it resumes at the end of February but he will not able to make his debut against Manchester City on Sunday because of a suspension picked up while playing in Spain.

Wenger revealed that he has been tracking the player for over a year, and, even though he had previously thought he would not be buying during the transfer window, circumstances ? particularly injuries to his front players - changed his mind.

?Wiltord has been out longer than expected, it is difficult to predict how long Aliadiere will be out and Kanu is at the African Nations Cup,? he commented. ?I said that if the right opportunity came along we would take it.?

On Tuesday afternoon it seemed the Arsenal manager did just that.
