Kevin Pietersen.jpg
Kevin Pietersen tried his best to win the game for the Stars but was unable to do so as he could not get support from other end with 4 batsmen getting out in single digit scores. Glenn Maxwell, who recently opened for the Aussies, came surprisingly down the order at 7, still scored 34 from 22 giving hope to Stars but wasn't able to finish the game

Kagiso Rabada.jpg
After Starc and Hazlewood in previous matches, it was Kagiso Rabada's turn to shine with the ball picking up 3 for 26 as the Thunder's strong bowling line-up won the game very easily for them

Sydney Thunder wins by 21 runs
And so the game draws to a tame conclusion with Sydney Thunder claiming an impressive victory by 21 runs. A solid, if unspectacular performance there by Sydney Thunder and they will no doubt want to build on the foundation laid today. The bowlers were probably licking their lips when they saw the pitch today - the pitch was very sporting, to say the least. All of the disciplines benefited greatly throughout the day. These two teams were fairly evenly matched so it was tough to predict the outcome. That being said Sydney Thunder proved to be the stronger in the end and snatched victory.
