He formed a 54-run partnership with Inzamam-ul-Haq who looked in great touch from the moment he arrived at the crease.Malcolm Marshall got rid of Abbas for 68.In walked Javed Miandad who had a good time batting with Inzamam throughout the tournament and also did so today.

The West Indies were up for a daunting task chasing 490 in order to win the tournament against an in-form bowling attack of Pakistan.
viv-richards_380.jpg

The openers this time around gave West Indies a better start with an opening partnership of 46 in just 51 balls.George Headley and Vivian Richards played impressive shots against the fast bowlers.Headley had been very ordinary by his standards in this tournament failed to score big once again. He was caught off the bowling of Imran Khan for an aggressive 22 off 24 balls.Brian Lara came in and shared a 59-run stand with Richards before Abdul Qadir got the crucial breakthrough by scalping Richards as a thin edge was well taken by keeper Moin Khan.

With the West Indies already struggling, high hopes were on Lara and Clyde Walcott. But there wasn't much they could do as the Pakistani bowlers had them under pressure most of the times.Lara was bowled by Wasim Akram similar to his first innings dismissal while Walcott played on to his stumps as the misery continued.Everton Weekes and Garry Sobers, the only two capable batsman remaining.Weekes coming off a century in the first innings started from where he had left and played an aggressive knock with Sobers too finding his rythm which opened up a possibility of a Caribbean triumph.
younis2.jpg

Waqar Younis who was hammered in the first innings ended all hopes of a fairytale victory for the West Indies when he dismissed Garry Sobers.Weekes still carried on for a while with the tailenders and went on to make his second hundred in the match. His innings ended in an unlucky fashion by edging the ball onto the stumps off the bowling of Imran Khan.Michael Holding and Joel Garner managed to frustrate the Pakistani players by taking the match into Day 5 but on a new day it didn't take long for Abdul Qadir and Waqar Younis to clean them up.
Pakistan won by a big margin of 150 runs to lift the inaugral Legends At Battle trophy!

MATCH SUMMARY
Code:
Pakistan 393 & 399/8d
West Indies 303 & 339

Pakistan won by 150 runs

Man of the match: Imran Khan

There were a few impressive individual performances in the match namely the hundreds in both innings by Everton Weekes,Zaheer Abbas's saving the best for the last performance and Abdul Qadir's bowling but none could overshadow the Pakistan captain Imran Khan's effort. He led from the front with the ball taking important wickets and played a huge part in extending Pakistan's lead in the second innings which made them win the tournament like 'Cornered Tigers' after their performance in the league stage matches wasn't so impressive.

Lovely description there Varun. Would had loved to see some pictures too.

WI have a daunting task ahead of them and they have only 6 able batters. There is almost 5 sessions of play left so it can go either way. I'm sure it isn't a draw. Hopefully, we will bowl them out much before time. If at all they manage that score in 4th innings, that would be unbelievable but that said, the advantage is clearly in Pakistan's favor as bowling has always been the strong point of our team.

Guys I've put some pictures.I'll post the 4th innings and outcome in an hour or so :yes

Really impressed with the write-up and I'm basked reading it. You're managing this league classically, Varun. Great effort! ;)

Pakistan Won Congratulations Fenil

Enjoyable first league from you Varun. Intrigued of you what you have to offer in the future...
