The Line-ups:
Ian Bell's 145 wasn't enough for the Lions
Bangladesh made it 2 wins from 2 today as they strolled past the England Lions at the Rose Bowl.
On a pitch that looked to favour the batsmen, Bangladesh surprised everyone by putting the Lions in to bat first. However, maybe Shakib had seen something that nobody else had, Joe Denly fell in the first over, and Kieswetter didn't stick around either. It was Ian Bell providing most of the runs, and combined with cameo's from Northeast and Key, they kept the scoreboard going. Bell went to 50 with a superb cover drive, and it didn't look like he was going to be stopped. He wasn't, and although everyone around him failed, the lower middle order of Wright, Patel, Rashid and Plunkett only added 28 between them all. But Bell stuck around, smashing his way to a century with a staight six into the sight screen. Ajmal Shahzad helped Bell by providing a steady partner, and the two of them added 47 before Bell was clean bowled by Razzak. They struggled through, but thanks to Bell's heroics, they reached 249 all out.
Bangladesh started well, Kayes and Iqbal proving that they are two of the hottest young talents at the moment, brisk 50's for both, combined for a 101 run partnership left Bangladesh with a small target remaining, and although some of the middle order, including captain Shakib and his vice Ashraful, Rahim and Mahmudullah came together and pretty much finished it off. Rafique was needed as Rahim fell, but Mahmudullah stuck around, finishing unbeaten on 45. Plunkett took 2/45 and Shahzad also took 2, but expensive overs meant that Bangladesh cruised home.

Shakib al Hasan Raises His Bat
Shakib al Hasan will go into the 1st Test next week on the back of a superb 101.
The 3-Day tour match at the Rose Bowl saw a number of players with huge amounts of potential, however only some found that talent in this match. Having won the toss, Shakib put the Lions into bat, with mixed results. Many of the English batsmen made solid starts, but only Steve Davies managed to convert that start into a 50. This meant that Bangladesh bowled the Lions out for a mere 224. There were wickets for Syed Rasel (4-47) and Abdur Razzak (2-37), both will be hoping for a place in the side for the first test.
Things couldn't have started worse for Bangladesh with the bat, both openers perished for less than 5 combined runs, and the strike bowlers of Plunkett and Harmison looked hungry for more wickets. Ashraful also fell cheaply, and Rahim could only manage 25 before he too was removed by Harmison. However, Shakib and Mehrab Hossain were now together at the crease, and they both looked in good touch. A partnership of 98 was brought to an end when Mehrab fell 3 runs short of his 50, but that wicket only meant that Mahmudullah came to the crease, and he and Shakib saw Bangladesh into the lead. Then came Shakib's Hundred, a magnificent innings from the Captain, and thanks to the partnership from Mahmudullah, who also scored a 50, saw Bangladesh to a comfortable total. There were also runs for Mortaza (34) and Naeem Islam (48), who made sure that Bangladesh scored over 300.
England came in for their 2nd innings, and lost Carberry early, leaving the crowd on edge as it looked like Bangladesh might sneak a victory. However, good knocks from Northeast, Bell, Bopara and an unbeaten 50 from Wright, made sure that the match ended in a draw.
England will announce their 14-man squad for the 1st Test later this week.
