England need to overaul their entire ODI setup,
There are players in the county team who are much mroe deserving of an odi spot than some which are already there.
The entire line up is messed up
Bopara is a much more equipped batsman than flintoff and they send flintoff before him?
flintoff needs to be in the no 6 slot where england need his power hitting at the end.(time to get over it and not expect him to come in at 4 and play like clarke, ponting, inzi, yousuf and kallis)

Owais Shah needs a call up and a couple of others cos at the moment englands batting is more feeble than bangladesh's batting.

Sure they are missing Tresco and Harmy but thats no excuse for some of the big blunders they have made in tactics, batting positions and squad selections

I agree that Bopara is batting for too low. In my opinion, his bowling isn't good enough for him to be classed as an all-rounder (yet), he needs to be played as a Collingwood - a batter who bowls a bit. 7 is too low, I'd like to see him certainly in the top 5, maybe even given his chance opening and see how he does. He's been England's one bright spark in this world cup, with little flashes of light provided by Nixon, Anderson's return, Pietersen and Bell's Australia knock. Apart from that, it's been a tournament to forget.

Sadly the man i wanted for the England job is now longer alive (RIP Bob Woolmer) but I think if we get a new coach in with some new ideas and someone not afraid to take risks like Fletcher is then we still have a good team and can definately have a good chance in 2011. We're not out yet though! We have some good young players,Cook,Broad,Onions,Bopara,Bell,Anderson e.t.c

I knew he would be in there somewhere, but i strongly agree with Joe that Englands future is looking better with new batsem and bowlers stepping up the gas to compete with the best in the buisness.

Tom Moody. Enough said.

I agree, I want Moody to get the England job - he's done great things with the Sri Lanka team and I believe he'd do the same for us.

Tom Moody for me. Anyone that stop's commentators saying "Mahmood coming in to bowl.....full toss....6!!!! Terrible delivery!"

Well, one thing is for certain, Michael Vaughan should be stripped of the captaincy and, if God forbid he still remains in the ODI team, moved down the order. He struggles as an opener which was visible today as he made Bell go on strike before him. Granted, he may be in the worst form of his career but the buck dosen't stop there. Being the captain, it has a domino effect and pretty much effects everyone in the team thus we witness a complete top order collapse like we saw today. Strauss dug in and gave us a vague chance of going over 200 but once he went it was like watching the tail end of my brothers under-16 team go up to bat. It was pathetic. Lack of confidence and a severe lack of ambition by not attacking powerplays. Maybe if we were chasing a lead then we would attack more but when we are put into bat on a surface with that amount of bounce by our own incompetent captain then we need to aim well over 200. The less said about Flintoff the better.

I was amazed by the lack of quality and variation in shots we showed today. We showed no passion and we are in dire trouble.

New coach, captain, selectors (come back Rodney!).

We also need an improved county set up.

9 England qualified players in every team.

If you provide England players you get rewarded, if you don't you don't get paid.

Change the national league (whatever they call it now) to 50 overs and replicate the ODI format, they faff about with it too much.

I agree with Moody for coach, if not Peter Moores :thumbs

I also want our England contracted players to play more county cricket. How are they going to learn how to play one-dayers when they never don their county colours?

I'm not sure. He says he's ready but whether the selectors will pick him again is another matter. They should do, he's clearly our best opener.

I think Benning should be given a try. See how he does with Surrey this season, then give him a chance in the winter.

Benning and Vaughan, perhaps the two biggest contrast of English OD opening batsman. :D
