Major England ODI Overhaul Needed

Give Fletch a chance. We're not privy to what actually goes on behind the doors. Get Vaughan out. Nixon has shown he is a great fighter but I say try Prior opening. My ODI team:

Trescothick
Prior
Pietersen
Bell
Bopara
Collingwood (Maybe swap him with Bopara)
Strauss (c)
Flintoff
Plunkett
Panesar
Anderson

See if Vaughan still has what it takes at Test level. It is no secret that his average has dropped by 8 runs over the last few years. Trescothick and Strauss must be reunited but Cook doesn't deserve to be dropped. My Test Team

Trescothick
Strauss (c)
Cook
Vaughan
Pietersen
Bell
Flintoff
Foster
Harmison
Hoggard
Panesar

No. Freddy shouldn't open, remember when we tried him up the order, and he failed miserably, because he isnt the type of batsmen that can play the newer ball.
Same with Pietersen, He HAS to bat 4, no higher, otherwise we risk losing his wicket too early, and then we're screwed for the rest of the innings.
The worst thing we could do is manafacture someone into an aggressive opener, they just have to come along, like Jayasuria, Gilchrist etc.
Pietersen is almost as good as Ponting. I don't see why you bat him at 4? Wouldn't you be better off giving him a good 40 overs or so to make a century and bat through the innings rather giving him 25 overs max & coming in at 2/75?
Atleast give him a chance to bat. His wasted at number 4. Make him come in after the 1st wicket is dropped and let him control the game.

He's had 8 years to do something in ODI cricket.

In 2005 it was going in the right direction then he got injuries etc. No one relied on KP back then....

To be honest, England have been relatively decent in ODI's on home turf under Fletcher (barring the Lankan series last year) but we have just never raised our game overseas. The CB series win was a combination of our players being hurt by what Australia's coach said, and the Australian's playing poorly.

This is pretty funny.

from cricinfo. From English newspaper.

But also pretty mean.

Sky sports news are saying Fletchers gone and it will be confirmed in a press conference at 4:30. Not a surprise tbh

Apparently Peter Moores will take over until the Scofield Report is published in May. I wonder who will take over in the long term. Tom Moody?

No player who will be too old for the World Cup should play now. There is little point, give Prior the gloves and let him gain the experience he needs. We need to select player who we believe have the skills and keep them in long term, not dropping them all the time. Players shouldn't have to play for the place all the time, only adds to the pressure.

There should be less England Internationals. Get Vaughan back in Yorkshire and hell start to settle and get back some form(hopefully). Coach for England? personaly i recon i could do better than duncan, but he shouldnt be critisised to heavily he doesnt play cricket, he sets targets and i bet we havent completed one since our CB series victory. Collingwood is a strong captain and also this is my Odi lineup for england:

Strauss
Cook
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Flintoff
Paul Nixon / Geraint jones
Ravi B
Simon Jones
Ashley Giles
James Anderson

Still take the postives out of the match, Bopara, Strauss and collingwood were there and got us 3/8 of the way there but still Pietersen & flintoff? best odi hitters in the world my arse!

Out of interest (Aussy supporter here) why the hell isnt Loye in the team? England performed really well when he joined. Gave em comfidence to slash at mcgrath and lee (and bracken but not as successful). Odd. I like the look of bopara, future captain in the making? Bell should be 4, hes the equivalent of Michael Clarke. What the hell is wrong with fletcher. Pieterson plays for himself and u guys are missing tresco (as uve pointed out already). Whats the news on simon jones anyway? Lol, so many questions eh. Bit disappointing from england, india and Pak this year...

You'd think England would use the same side which beat Australia, but thats far too logical.
