Your Cricket Maney2k9's Season Diary

Stop wanking it next to the window and you won't have that problem in the future

First game of the season

Made the 'long' journey to Bury St. Edmunds III team. I say long, longest we will make this year.

Lost the toss, bowled, and there was some of the most monkhouse bowling/fielding I've ever seen. I took one catch at mid-off, but shelled another at fine leg. That was pretty crap. Then batting we started too slowly to chase 259 (45 overs) and by the time I went in, we were on about 110 with 10 to go. I hit a nearly all-run 26, didn't find the middle once, despite some terrible bowling, before over-reaching and hitting a steepler to mid-on.

We lost by about 20, and I will not play Saturdays again for a while. The captain is terrible, and doesn't motivate the team at all. Waste of a day.

Wait, are you not playing, because of a bad captain, or did I misread it, because it's 6:30am and I haven't slept yet.

What I meant was, is he not playing on Saturdays because there's no fixtures, or because he simply doesn't want to play under the captain.

Because the captain is monkhouse ;)

Second game

Second game of the season, for the far stronger Sunday 1st XI, it was my first home game on an absolute road of a pitch. However, I didn't bat. We posted 231-3, and skittled them out before half 7. Happy days.

As the scorecard says, I caught 2, but also shelled another, which pissed me off no end. Taken 3 from 5 in two games, and have the most fielding wickets in the Club so far this season. A title I am sure to lose, because I am missing about 12 games in the next 6 weeks.

Game 1 - @ Bury St Edmunds III

Game 2 - vs BT & Waldringfield

I must be in demand, the Sunday skipper asked me to 'brave it' as soon as he heard my finger had been put back in properly.

I'm gonna be hanging out my ass on Sunday though. Didn't some WIndies batsmen bat drunk/hungover?

Game 3 of my season saw more of the same. Batting low (10) not bowling and another drop.

I hit an all-run 15 off about the last 3 overs.

I am rapidly running out of patience now, too.

Game 3 scorecard

Forgot about it, to be fair.

I turned up hanging like a bat, and chucked in each inning, had to leave the field for a couple of overs.

Ah, alcomohol :)

Game 4.

Another shitty affair, this time I batted at 4 and made a 6-baller. My leave technique failed me, and I was caught behind for the first time ever.

Took one catch, didn't drop any, and we won by 51. Safe. We are now in 4th.

Game tomorrow if it stops pissing down.

Game 5.

One of the worst fielding performances by a team I have played in; we (they) shelled 9 catches in total, but I took my 1 chance. A steepler that I had to run about 20 yards backwards for, before taking it out in front of me with my back to the stumps.

Batting; another failure, some chap bounced me out, caught behind as it caught my bat, that's twice in 3 days I've been caught behind. :doh

Made 9, so I average 4.5 on the month.
