just played another match with manual fielding and AI bat really well no lob shots no cheap wickets very hard to dismiss settings for difficulty is veteren medinm batting and Bowling difficulties I changed back to semi assisted fielding for 4 balls and that is when I got d mendis out with a cheap lob shot as it happens for just about every wicket on semi assited fielding and @Langeveldt the bowled I got was the batsman trying to play a leg glance miss timing the shot and taking out leg stump looked very natural anyway can someone else try fielding set to manual to set the outcome thanks also it was a full 50 over match

@Cloud Starkman is it that they don't play the often shots, or that because of manual fielding you struggle to get there and make the catches?
They dont give you a chance to miss catches so far there hasn't been any opportunities to take carches they play to the gaps no lob shots its weird its a total different experience I don't know why but I haven't seen them play the same shots as they do if I had it on semi fielding the catches I have took are the only ones they have given
I have alot of trouble trying to take wickets as I am setting the difficulty back towards easy but are still having no luck
I know as soon as I put it on semi fielding they will just collapse
Play a session and see what results you get I am going to play another session after dinner will update again then
Also I am still on patch 3 so things could be different on the latest builds but give it a go on your ps 4
The wicket I did get was a outside edge to point

Maybe this needs to be looked at coz I always play with semi-auto fielding as manual fielding takes too much effort and time. Would love to see similar results for other fielding modes and I find it weird that AI batsmen would change their batting and shot selection depending on the user fielding option.

I'm someone who'd love manual fielding to work well in the game, especially in shorter form up to 20-30 overs. When the patch is out I'm keen to give it a go. I think catching is something that needs more than just the stick held in the direction the catch came from though. A HELD X button push at the moment before it lands into your hands would be a good thing to add timing to it, even in semi-auto.

Still, very interesting that the shots being played and the chances being given are seemingly different in manual fielding. Hard to know what factors could be causing that. Like blocker I also though maybe one or two more misfields might be doing it, as in DBC'14 the manual fielding was pretty hard to control, so I never gave it a go in '17.

The problem I have when i choose semi assisted is sometimes it feels like i do nothing and i catch the ball and sometimes i got dropped catches as well. Do we have a choice?

I dont know why its different I got sick of getting AI out so easy and when I first got DBC 17 manual fielding just frustrated me the over rates were really slow 75 overs in a day when bowling and I loved manual fielding in DBC 14 so I put game down
Reading all the posts about patch 4 got my cticket bug going again as I was just going to wait for patch 4 came out then I thought I will try manual fielding and it still is frustrating at times but its not the fact that manual fielding is not quite right its the way AI play when set to manual fielding
I will post some more screen shots later but got a few more wickets but they are not like the cheap lob shots that you would normally get I got another catch at point which was a slash that kept low nd caught by point and 2 caught behinds and I dropped a caught and bowled the only issue I find with manual fielding is the run rate for tests is a little high around 4 an over[DOUBLEPOST=1494630974][/DOUBLEPOST]

On manual fielding so far I have had some input in every catch at least when you drop them in manual you feel like you made the mistake

I think fielding could use a revamp, it feels a very confusing to me. I've got semi assisted on. Sometimes I get the reflex catching. At other times I don't when it would seem like the right time to get it. Sometimes the fielders take the catch without me touching the stick, other times I have to. There doesn't seem to be much logic to it.

I'd sooner have a system when the fielder movement is automatic (with the option to turn off if you want) and the ABXY buttons trigger fielder responses. I think about playing PES 2017 where you can press shoot and the output will be based on the situation with no need do some combo of button pressing to get a spectacular shot. The AI almost knows what you want to do. It cuts out the fat.

One button could trigger the fielder to field the ball by whichever appropriate method for the situation. Near the boundaries: a tap back; flicking back to another fielder; leaping up to stop a six and maybe it even brings about a chance to catch like Ben Stokes yesterday. Based what is possible for each fielder on their skills. Perhaps sometimes they could end up looking foolish.

Flat throw - when aiming for the stumps
Normal throw - when just returning the ball to the keeper/bowler.
Let the AI decide the end, based on fielding/judgement skills.

That sort of thing.

And for all catches to have some form of the reflex catching system, which I enjoy.

End of AIs first innings this was the most exciting and excellent bowling experience I have had since game was released utterly fantastic and all I have done is changed to manual fielding anyone looking for a good game just change to manual fielding don't know why but as you can see the AI finally put up a good total had to really work to get wickets and every wicket was good none of these lob shots and cheap outs and even got acouple bowled no edges on to stumps just play and miss and even got a LBW this is all on ps4 patch 3 i have finally found a decent cricket game I knew it was in there somewhere it just took a lot of searching

Play manual fielding its a completely different game I got the reflex for every catch except 1

If it involves having to make fielders move and run, for me, that would get boring quickly. I really don't care that much about fielding. I think semi-assissted has a good balance of what you do and don't do, it could just be improved a little to make it more intuitive.
