I have been playing mass effect on my PC for sometime now and there seems to be a problem with the hairstyles and the clothing of the characters. The environmental effects and the framerate is quite good but the hair and clothing looks like graphics from a game released in 2002 or 2003. Can someone help me? Cheers:)

What texture settings are you on? Also make sure you have the very latest drivers for your graphics card, I had a problem with ME clothing when I got my 4870, there was a lot of corruption and poor texturing. Drivers did the trick :)

Great game, btw.

pingusten, you got a 4870? Well done mate! :)

Now you're one of the graphics elites around here, and thanks to AMD, its now not really tough to be one! :)

And btw, Mass Effect seems promising, I'm still thinking if I should get it! :)

Thanks for the help guys. Just downloaded the June 2008 driver update for my gfx card. Its now much better looking.

But I have got another problem now, the face sometimes has grey shadows even after I turned the shadows off. Can anyone help me with that?

The shadow bug is a known coding problem by Bioware, but its easily fixed.

Browse to My Documents>Bioware>Mass Effect>Config and open up BIOEngine.ini

Search for the following line and change it to "False":

DisableHWShadowMaps=True

This should get rid of all that horrible corruption and funny low res shadows. It also improves FPS :)

I also suggest you use Koroush Ghazi's Tweak Guide to help get the best looking results in the game. His guide is incredibly thorough and easy to understand.

No thinking, Dude. Just get it. It's awesome. If you loved Oblivion, you would love this too!:)

Its Oblivion only graphic wise. But the gameplay is what has set it apart in its own league. Its a planned epilogue meaning the game will be completed only after 3 versions. The replay value is mind blowing. I finished two play throughs and still have not seen everything in the game. A must have if you love quality RPGs.

I'll get it then, I trust you all! :) Never played Oblivion because didn't have the firepower when it came out, but will surely try mass effect! :)

I've heard that the game doesn't have AA. What a shame. :p I guess nV control panel will be to the rescue! :D

Yes, that's true. But NV controll panel will not be able to completely AA the game. You'll notice a bit of jaggies here and there, but nothing to diminish the value of this great game.
Here's a screenshot. Notice any jaggies?

You'll not notice here also:

Here I've marked where you'll notice the jaggies:

The game's on 16X AA (Multi Sampling), 8X AF.

No, it's not a custom character. It's just the default character of the game, Commander.Shephard. You get to change the characters appearance at the start of the game where you can customise everything about the character's appearance and class, pretty much like Oblivion.
You've been probably confused because of the character's upgraded armour.

No, what I meant was, is it possible to download unique character faces somewhere. And yeah, the armour did confuse me a bit.

I did'nt come across any sites offering custom faces for the game, but as I said you can create you own custom char face at beginnig od your game.:)
