Time for knock out matches

After completing the matches in league top 4 teams have moved the Semi Finals.

Loss of Pakistan against England thrown them away from the league along with New Zealand. Pakistan was not able to win the match also they failed to gain enough bonus points to get themself to semis.

Surprisingly West Indies made in to the top 4 with marginal difference in the NRR.

Seven Teams T20 Series

First Semi Final

India vs West Indies

It was a fine day in Delhi and sun has gone down weather was too good to play cricket when Gayle and Dhoni came out for the toss.

Dhoni was expecting to win the toss, knowing the conditions of the home ground. Gayle won the toss and elected to bat first. Dhoni couldn't believe his luck as that his what he wanted.

Gayle and Lewis opened the battting and the first over went for 8 runs. But nobody knew that there was a sock awaiting in the next over. Nehra bowled a stunning over to send Gayle, Lewis, Brathwaite back to pavilion in the same over. Marlon Samuels once started to play some sensible innings partnered with Jake Bond to rescue the team from pressure.

This partnership moved the scored to 56 before Bond lost his wicket. Marlon Samuels was looking good for another half century in the tournament, but couldnt compete it against the pace attack of India. Rest of the batsmen went back to the pavilion as soon as they came to the middle. Jason Holder attacked the bowlers and scored a quick 22 of Just 11 balls.

At the end of 20 overs West Indies scored 127 runs with the loss of 9 wickets.

Rohit Sharma and Sheker Dhawan opened the batting for India. West Indies Indies bowlers were not in a mood to let the match go easily. They sent Rohit and Dhawan back to pavilion in the first three overs. It was another day in office for Virat rescuing the ship from the sinking position this time partnered with Yuvraj. These two built a slow and solid partnership of 50 in 45 deliveries.

Yuvraj departed after nice contirbution to the score. Virat carried on and finished his yet another half century in the tournament.

Finally Virat Scored the winning runs by hitting fabulous boundary and took India to the Finals.

Thrilling, Nail Biting, Heart Pounding and what not match it was. As everyone expected 153 was not an enough score for a T20 format. Bangladeshi batsmen came in to the middle with a motto to win this match as they have already faced 3 consecutive loss and this is almost their final chance to move to the knock out stage of the tournament. Imrul Kayes was looking very aggressive from the beginning and started to smash the ball all around the park. Indian bowlers were not able to control him. Bangladesh reached 49 runs in the powerplay without much trouble from the Indian bowling line up.

Ashwin came in to the attack, but he was the one got attacked very badly, giving 27 runs in just 2 overs. Dhoni decided not to go spin anymore as the score is pretty less and Bangladeshis are pretty comfortable against spin.

All four pacemen are used and India was very badly in need another pacer. Without any other choice Kohli was called to bowl. But what a surprise he was the only one who knew what exactly to bowl to control the scoring rate of Bangladesh. In spite the wicket fall in one end, Kayes continued his aggressive batting but not able to stand against the medium pace of Virat. Finally he got out for 75 of 56 deliveries. N Hassan and M Rahman went for the lofted shot and moved the scorecard so close to the victory. It was the last over and Bangladesh needed 10 runs to win. Virat Kohli came to bowl his last over and all Bangladesh hope started fading.

Finally, Virat snatched the victory from Bangladesh by 3 runs. and he was awarded Man of the Match for his one man battle with both bat and ball.

Isn't Kohli a spinner?

Second Semi Final

Australia vs England

This is why these teams are called "Rivals"

Another beautiful day in WACA stadium. Fans were eagerly waiting for the toss and wanted their home team win the match from the toss till the end. England was lucky in that aspect and won the toss, sent Australia to bat first.

It was a shocking start for Aussies as they lost Finch when the team reached just 7 Runs.

Followed by Warner very quickly back to the pavilion

Scoring runs was not so difficult for Aussies but they couldn't stop the fall of wickets. They lost Smith and Bailey in quick succession as well.

Wickets falling at one end and run coming in the other end. Match was oscillating in favour of both teams now and then. Maxwell played some classy shots and kept the scorecard ticking fast. Australia reached 70 Runs in powerplay with the loss of 4 wickets.

English bowlers started to control the run rate after powerplay and the batsmen struggled to get the ball past the infield after the powerplay.

Australia were able to score only 20 Runs in the next four overs also lost 3 wickets in quick succession. Glenn Maxwell who was playing extremely well was also taken out by Jordan followed by Faulkner for a golden duck in the very next ball.

Martin Samson (aka Mitchell Starc) stood in the middle for a while but he was also sent back to pavilion quickly.

Josh Hazzlewood came to middle when Aussies were looking for someone to stay in the middle till the end of allotted 20 overs. Taking all the responsibility on his shoulders he played both sensibly and aggressively. He started to find the gap so easily and scored a quick 48 not out of just 23 deliveries. It is because of him Aussies reached a massive total of 176 for 10 in 19.4 overs.

English Batsmen came to the middle with the intention to get the match back in their favour.

Cook and Hales started a solid innings and got a partnership of 48 Runs. Cook continued his form in this match as well and joined hands with Root for 50 run partnership.

Aussies were not able to get quick wickets like Englishmen did. However, they got the run rate well under their control.

Cook completed his half century and looking good to finish the match as a winning side.

Last over 14 Runs required and brilliant bowling from Siddle with changing pace line and length each ball gave away only three runs.

Finally Australia won the very close by 10 runs and got themselves into to Finals. Thanks to Hazzlewood for rescuing score of 48 of 23 deliveries.

Why did George Bailey bowl four overs? At least he got realstically punished

@francisjery how do you play these matches? Do you take control of one team and bat & bowl with that team? Or do you bat for both the teams or bowl for both the teams?

FINALS

INDIA vs AUSTRALIA

The day has come for which the fans were awaiting for. Seven Teams started the tournament with one goal. Three teams sent back home by four toppers before they could reach the knock out stage. Two teams were eliminated by the other two and sealed their place in the Finals.

And these two teams were ready for a battle to lift the trophy.

Dhoni and Smith came to the middle for the toss with the big cheers from the crowd. Any team would bowl first in this as the pitch is very favourable for the pacers.

Dhoni won the toss and without any hesitation elected to bowl first. Warner and Finch came down to open the innings for Australia. Ishant Sharma ready with the ball to bowl the first over.

Warner took the first run of the match and gave strike to Finch. This is when it became clear that this gonna be another day in paradise for the Indian bowlers. Aaron Finch wanted to attack the pacers but gave away his wicket in the very first ball he faced.

Captain Steven Smith came to the middle in the first over itself which he wouldn't have expected at all. Indian bowlers capitalised the set back of Australia and made it tough for them to score runs freely. David Warner was sent to join Finch in the pavilion very quickly.

Steven Smith was not in his form at all in this tournament and haven't scored any big runs recently. This match is also not an exception for that.

Had a great match. SA T20 comp. I was Cobras Vs Lions. I batted first, got to 175. After 5 overs they were cruising on 50/0. Then they self destructed. All out for 99! Some great wickets. edged behing. Few bowled. Was great, as the collapse was triggered by Philander. felt real.

Amazing game this. Felt real as imo Nigeria and Japan would play this kind of game IRL.
