Well the key for me was that 86 run opening partnership which came in like 8-9 overs so the run rate never got too high.

I've also started to play more back foot shots which to me seem more rewarding than front foot ones.

Absolutely...

2007 World cup Final between Sri Lanka and Australia. Who wins? Scroll through and find out...

2015_08_27_04_55_06.jpg

The correct world cup teams. I even made a garish orange uniform for Australia, like they wore then.

Sri Lanka wins the toss and bats first. They get a few runs before Bracken gets the key wicket of Jayasuria! 1-20

2015_08_27_01_50_58.jpg

Tharanga and Sangakkara take the score to 2-100 before Sanga is cleaned bowled. I then bring on the spinners and Hoggy almost gets his man! So close!

2015_08_27_02_38_53.jpg

Jayawardene shortly after smacks Hogg to Bracken, who takes the catch silly headband and all. Score is 4-137. The spinners Hogg and Symonds are really tying down the Sri Lankans.

2015_08_27_02_48_13.jpg

I waste a review on this shocker. It was a full toss :(

2015_08_27_02_41_16.jpg

So I felt like a right twat when this was given not out shortly after and I had no reviews (although it was apparently going just over but I don't believe it)

2015_08_27_03_08_39.jpg

Some late order hitting from Arnold and Malinga and they reach a respectable total of 9-219. Symonds and Hogg were the picks of the bowlers.

2015_08_27_03_30_41.jpg

Australia started reasonably well, reaching 1-20 when Hayden was LBW by Fernando. The Sri Lankans had hope! Out strolled the captain...

2015_08_27_03_44_56.jpg

Although he was also LBW to Fernando! Clarke didn't last long either so the score was 3-36 with Gilly and Symo at the crease. Symo got on with business quickly

2015_08_27_03_57_04.jpg

Although then he lobbed a pull shot to Jayasuria at mid wicket. 4-66. Watto came in and smacked his first two balls for 2 then 4. He then got a bit edgy, as shown below. Two edges in a row that flew by gully! Also by now you might be able to tell that the lighting isn't very good. The lights didn't turn on early enough so it was actually quite hard to see! I was seeing parallels with the real match...

2015_08_27_04_07_45.jpg

Gilly fell and it was 5-89, in dire straights! Hussey and Watto stabilised but it almost went pear-shaped! So lucky!

2015_08_27_04_17_51.jpg

Watto continued to prove the doubters wrong (who admittedly didn't really exist back in 2007) and raised the bat. He wasn't batting recklessly, he just took Vaas for about 15 off one over. Hussey was the calming figure at the other end.

2015_08_27_04_31_26.jpg

But then with the score at 164 Vaas has his revenge!!! Leg stump out of the ground! The very next ball a left-hander nicked the ball to Sanga and we were in real trouble at 7-164. I first thought it was Hogg but alas no! It was a new over and it was Hussey!

2015_08_27_04_38_49.jpg

Bracken smacked a four and then tried again and was caught behind. Things are looking dicey. Tait comes in and hits a few runs with Hogg watching comfortably at the non-strikers, but then bizarrely we are taken off for a rain delay! It says "Match Tied" and I was shattered, wanting to complete what I had spent 4 hours on. Yet bizarrely, the match continued and we were taken to 2.30pm the next day with no time lost! The bizarreness of this game seemed to mirror the real world cup final. The score was 8-189 at the time, only 30 runs off victory. Sri Lanka had bowled their main four bowlers almost to competion (Vaas, Murali, Fernando and Malinga) so some part timers were just around the corner! Taity took advantage and was smacking the ball around, much to the dismay of the fielders!

2015_08_27_04_59_26.jpg

But then no! He loses his partner in crime Hogg and at 9-200 out strolls...

2015_08_27_04_56_11.jpg

Very cautious batting. McGrath sees off overs from Muralia and Jayasuria, allowing Tait to try to score some desperate runs. The score is brought to 9-214 before Tait times one surprisingly well to cover. The fielder dives, grabs the ball and throws with only one stump to aim at and....

2015_08_27_05_02_56.jpg

The dream is over. Tait is run out with an agonising 5 runs to spare. Tharanga gets MoM for his 66 off 75 that set up Sri Lanka, but personally I'd have given it to Fernando for the crucial wickets of Hayden, Ponting and Hussey (and the less crucial one of Bracken).

I hope you enjoyed the coverage :D

I bring you action-packed drama and all you do is comment on the image quality? :(

I'm on the go right now so this is on a Dual Boot on my laptop. Standard windows shortcuts like that generally don't work. I'll probably invest in FRAPS or something for the next time. Would be nice to GIF a few of the highlights.

I'm positive that you can get a free version of fraps which is fine for screenshots but it's not so great for videos as you can only record for roughly 10 seconds. I guess that would give you enough time for replays though.

Too many people are focusing on the insignificant details and not marvelling at what was a ringa-ding-ding game of cricket.

it's also a steam shortcut, so should still work?

great report by the way - sounds like a tense game!

We've all learned something today *holds hands*

We now take you to the infamous Adelaide Bodyline test. Bradman is back and England are on fire. What happens?

On a slight technical note, the Australia team needed a lot of editing. Most of the players were criminally underrated and also a fair few mistakes, e.g. O'Reilly being listed as an offie. I also had to do the tedious job of giving them all pre-war bats without rainbow grips. The English team was better. I can upload them ifpeople are interested.

Australia wins and chooses to bat first

Umpiring the game is our Lord and Savior himself:

2015_08_29_00014.jpg

Fingleton and Woodfull start well, but not without some chances, like this failed review for caught behind

2015_08_29_00005.jpg

And this drop!!!

2015_08_29_00006.jpg

Bugger off ya bastard!!! (Jardine's cap is probably the most amazing thing in the entire game)

2015_08_29_00007.jpg

The batsmen make the bowlers pay, bringing up the 50 partnership

2015_08_29_00008.jpg

But shortly after disaster stikes!

2015_08_29_00011.jpg

And then we lose the other opener, after Bradman says "fearsome tweak off, you're plum"

2015_08_29_00012.jpg

...but then joins him in the sheds shortly after, possibly because he forgot his cap, but more likely because his nemesis Larwood was too good

2015_08_29_00013.jpg

And it's time for the collapse....

2015_08_29_00017.jpg

McCabe put on a solid 30 batting with the tail but is then out to a ripping catch from Ames

2015_08_29_00019.jpg

The tail doesn't last long and the poms walk off the ground having rattled the Aussies for a mere 130 in 45 overs, despite being 0-60 at one stage. It's fair to say that I struggled against Verity, but pleased he only got 1 wicket.

2015_08_29_00020.jpg

To be continued!!!
