England Worst XI face Australia 1993 in the second (4-ball over) Ashes test, trailing 1-0.
England win the toss and bat first.
Jason Gallian is in for John Stephenson, but it looks a poor change when he goes without scoring.
Maynard and Lathwell are looking comfortable, and it's a surprise when Maynard goes.
Lathwell is unfazed by the loss of his partner and goes on to a classy 50.
But the pattern for England seems to be players getting starts and not going on; regular wickets prevent England from building a dominant score.
Blakey and Irani share a 50 stand in just 34 balls, dominated by fast leg-side scoring from the wicketkeeper.
The loss of Irani for 23 and Batty for 1 doesn't slow Blakey's aggression, and he goes through to his own 50 off just 36 balls.
Blakey farms the strike while batting with the tail, and finds support from McCague and Benjamin. It helps him go through to a brilliant 100.
Blakey is last our for 126, a vital innings. England then post 295 for 10. Lathwell's 66 holding the top order together, and Blakey's ton dominating the innings and taking England up to a competitve score.
In the first innings of the first test, England had dismissed the Aussie top order cheaply, and this was repeated in the 2nd test.
This time however, the Waugh twins couldn't rescue Australia.
In the circumstances 17 from Hughes and 11 from Warne classed as the tail wagging...
...but Australia were still dismissed for just 125 - 170 runs behind. The follow-on mark is 150 in this series, and with it being near the end of the day and his bowlers still quite fresh, Maynard had no hesitation in asking Australia to bat again.
The Australia second innings got off to a sensational start...
for England.
Slater out first ball and Boon to the last ball of the 1st over, both without scoring. The scoreboard may have shown 0, but the Aussies were in real terms negative 170 for 2!!
For the 3rd time out of 4 innings, the Australian top order imploded.
Healy and Steve Waugh put up some resistance.
and Waugh made a good 50 in trying circumstances
But neither could play the big innings needed to get in front and post a defendable total.
And when May 9th out with Australia 10 still in arrears it looked as though an innings victory was on the cards.
However the last pair of McDermott and Warne pushed Australia in front, but when a catch was taken in the slips to give McCague his 7th wicket of the innings and 10th of the Match, Australia were just 5 ahead.
England knocked it off in no time to square the series.
1-1 with 3 to play!
