After losing wickets in quick succession, ROW XI now looked for some stability in the middle. Afridi however stuck to his natural game and instead of rotating the strike, he opted to play the big shots. It payed off once when he got a risky but worth it four over the mid-on fielder's head but this "fearless" batting resulted in what ROW XI wouldn't have wanted - ANOTHER wicket. Afridi played the ball straight to mid-on and another ROW XI's batsman was back to the pavilion.
After Afridi, the wickets didn't stop tumbling and it was one after the another. Warne was next to come in and he couldn't stay at the crease for long either. Warne wanted to sweetly time the ball through the off-side but ended up edging it to Chris Read who accepted the catch with ease.
Collingwood went for the glory shot instead of safely negotiating a few overs and getting the innings back on track - lack of match practice eh! Ajmal completed the catch at boundary and the ROW's perfect match continued to go according to perfection.
Siddle hung around for 7 deliveries before he was run out to a silly call from the "fast bowler in the world", the lovely Tino Best.
ROW XI's innings ended with a few fireworks which lightened up the crowd - thanks to Tino Best's fiery show. One shot here and one shot there took ROW's final total to 128. The end to Best's fire-full innings came with a straight delivery from Gul - which rattled his off-stump, misjudging to perfection.
Keep calm - Master at work
Now, it was time for the maestro to make his way into the middle. A legend who surpassed every record in international cricket, a legend around him the world of cricket continued to build and player's seek the challenge to break his mountain records - Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.
Along with him came the fearful batsman from Australia, Aaron Finch. What a opening combination! 1 maestro and 1 destructor, could the crowd ask for more!
Opening the bowling was the bowler who has priceless wicket of Tendulkar in his tally of wickets - will he be able to put his best show forward and grasp his wicket a gain! Let's see.
Keep calm - master at work. When Tendulkar plays, you just stare and watch him do his magic. Even though he's been away from this game for a few months now, one couldn't really feel any sort of roughness around his game in the starting bit of his innings - he seemed greatly confident in the way he played each of his shots, even his defense looked solid.
Finch alongside Sachin, successfully built the innings - rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Every Sachin fan looks for 2 of his shots - crispy straight drive and slashing off drive, the crowd at Lord's got to witness both of his "epic" shots in the very first 5 overs of the match.
Siddle was being thrashed all around the park and so was Best - their pace was helping Tendulkar to guide the ball to the third man and play his natural strokes which was hurting the MCC XI very badly - every run got them closer and closer to the target to be achieved which by no means enough - just 128.
Can ROW XI fight back? Cricket is a funny game after all...
MCC XI : 51/0 After 8 overs Sachin Tendulkar : 23*(25) Aaron Finch : 25*(23) MCC XI needs another 78 runs to win.
