MCC XI vs ROW XI - the Little Master vs the Spin Wizard
Lord's cricket ground - the Mecca of cricket. Since the inception of cricket, Lord's has been the most well regarded of the stadiums among all. It's the history and the tradition that it beholds with itself, which not only makes it a paradise of cricket but also a place that is worshiped by many a cricketing greats and their fans for the significance that it beholds towards the game of cricket.
Lord's is into it's 200th year and to make this anniversary even more grand - the ECB and the club has come together to organize a mega event - an event like NEVER BEFORE. An event which promises to be a nail-bitter, a thriller, majestic - find all the words you can but they're not enough to put into context the emotions of a cricket fan.
In this celebration where cricket comes to greet it's longest serving 'mecca ground' - it's the perfect opportunity for fans to come together and enjoy this 'festivity'.
Get ready to see 2 great legends step onto the cricketing field once again and perhaps in the most grand fashion than ever before - it's the battle of legends, a cricket match like never before....
Teams
ROW XI : SK Warne*, TL Best, PD Collingwood, AC Gilchrist?, M Muralitharan, KP Pietersen, V Sehwag, Shahid Afridi, PM Siddle, Tamim Iqbal, Yuvraj Singh
The Little Master vs The Spin Wizard : Sachin Tendulkar will be captaining the MCC side and Shane Warne will be captaining the rest of the world side.
The MCC XI included 3 legends of cricket - Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara, 3 greats who ruled the game of cricket for well more than a decade. Along side these 3 greats will be today's explosive and fearsome batsman, Aaron Finch, someone who has made a great name for himself in the last few years for his powerful strokes and consistency with the bat.
Lee and Tait will be responsible for the fast bowling department and helping them in the spin department will be today's spin-wizard, Saeed Ajmal. Chanderpaul is another notable inclusion in the side, someone whose grown as a cricket especially since the retirement of the West Indies cricketing great, Brian Lara. Chanderpaul has since taken over the senior man role in the West Indies side and has filled in the shoes of the "senior" extremely well.
The rest of the world XI is strengthened with the inclusion of 2 maestro of spin bowling and the true masters of disguising the batsmen with their art of spin i.e. Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan. Along side this, the MCC side also includes 3 explosive batsmen in Sehwag, Petersen and Yuvraj.
One of the most finest wicket keeper batsman that that the game of cricket has seen i.e. Adam Gilchrist will be the WKB for ROW XI. Shahid Afridi and Paul Collingwood will be extremely crucial in giving this side the all round strength that it definitely needs.
Without doubt, these 2 sides look solid on paper but it's their performance on the field that matters. Both the sides include many cricketing greats but who will "taste" success in this all-to-win match! You'll find out soon.
