Melbourne FC Sign Wanderley Luxemburgo
Melbourne FC have ditched Jose Mourinho in a last-ditch resort and have made a very interesting signing as manager - Wanderley Luxemburgo, also known as Vanderlei Luxemburgo. It is believed the move will get rid of some old 'deadwood' in Mourinho, who didn't know how to handle the challenge, and instead introduce a very technical and experienced manager to the team.
Luxemburgo is the most successful manager in Brazil's Serie A history, with 5 title wins. He has also managed at such clubs as Real Madrid, and was Brazil's head manager in 1998 for their World Cup.
He was previously managing at Atletico Minero in Brazil's Serie A, but as soon as a big club like Melbourne FC came calling, he was more than happy to take the job.
Despite pundits suggesting he may take too long to adapt to the conditions in Barbados and the free-flowing style of football that Melbourne FC play, he has proven them wrong after recording Melbourne FC's first win in the league in just his second game - a 5-0 rout.
Luxemburgo is a strict manager, but one with incredible determination and tactical knowledge, and it is believed that his desire to win will fuel Melbourne further into a higher position. Luxemburgo is also known to be keen on signing players, something evidently Mourinho was not. Luxemburgo has not yet made any moves in the transfer market, but hopefully it won't be long before we see a few.
