Microsoft Flight Simulator Discussion

I'm staying far away from the mountains. Tried flying a few times and even though the altimeter said I was 5000 feet up, I still crashed into the ground :facepalm

Do you have to reset the altimeter? If so how do you do it and how often do you have to do it?

Press "B".

When should I press it? before I take off or can I reset it during flight?

Taken your advice and going to fly around the West Indies. Getting there through a series of short flights though.

Houston - Dallas - New Orleans.

Going New Orleans to Tallahassee, Florida now and then to the Windies!

2004 more commonly known as FS9 (flight sim 9)

Landed in Tallahassee, Florida. Next trip will be to Miami and from then on will look for a close island to get to and start my Caribbean trip.

I remember when I first got this game, I always used to do crazy stuff and crash. Trying to weave through buildings in cities in a 747 is a bad idea!

TO SAY THE LEAST!

I used to do that stuff when I 1st played flight sim as a child, now that I am giving it a proper go it's much more exciting.

I've always wanted to get a private pilots license anyways so that probably has a lot to do with it. Just need about 10k saved up and then I can start doing the real thing, probably won't be for a few years though. My dad has a pilots license but he stopped flying a few years ago due to a heart condition.

Before you spend any money you might want to ask yourself what kind of gamer are you. If you are into realism and patient you will love this game. It's a very accurate simulation of flight and there is a lot of material to learn. If you are more of an arcade, "video games are meant to be action packed" gamer then this might not be your cup of tea.

It's likely to be rather cheap though considering how old it is, so there's not too much harm spending $20 or so on it I would think. I'm not sure whether it'd be my type of game though. I don't think it would be as fun if you don't have a joystick.

Deffo need a joystick if not a super sweet set up like this guys

Someone with that sort of setup has a friend to be his co pilot

All sim's will be that big. Flight Sim X installed is 16 GB

Mark added 1 Minutes and 21 Seconds later...

-_-

Somebody cares a lil too much

If you have the money why not, private aviation (private ownership, small pilot licenses, communal charters, flight sims) is a pretty big hobby industry in the States.
