Middle East crisis

True, I agree. However, I also feel that the fact that Palestinians were once there is in the past as well, and they can't claim the land now. It's unfair to the Israelis to get out of the are now that they're settled there. They've just got to learn to live together, instead of trying to drive each other out.

I would never advocate the mass movement of people (especially on the basis of religion) whatever the circumstances.

The only solution of course is to live and let live, however, seeing how volatile conditions are in the middle east, it seems more of a case of Live and Let Die (thanks to Gn'R :))

You do know that anyone can edit Wikipedia, right?
Wikipedia is great for popular (read American) culture and popular literature. Serious matters pertaining to history and politics should be left to the experts. I would advise members to get hold of a good book (horror of horrors, I am actually advocating that today's school going kids should read ;) ) if they want to learn more about the historical nature of the middle east conflict.

Any source in this matter can be very difficult to judge, in terms of bias. This is especially so on the internet--where it is dirt cheap to publish information. People who are actually accountable and spend money on publications and research are much more likely to be trustworthy with factual, unbiased information.

UN have said they are going to withdrawal observors out of Lebanon, hardly surprising when they are being targetted by the Israelis.

Ceasefire or not, the damage has been done. Lebanon will take many years to recover from this latest Israeli - Hezbollah war assuming there is not another one in the near future.

Add to that ofcourse the looming environmental catastrophe (Lebanon's worst) with a 80 mile long oil slick from one of the destroyed power stations. An equivalent of 110,000 barrels have poured into the sea and have already washed onto many beaches.

You relegious people should wake up to the 21st century and stop bitching about land which you say you "rightfully" own due to your religeon. I never relised how pathetic this world can be.

Israel has self-imposed a 48 hour moratorium on airstrikes, after the deaths of 60 Lebanese civilians - 37 of them children.

may be that was a bit over-board. Don't blame any religion, its just their ignorant attitudes.

Good to see Israel agree to a temporary cease-fire, but the Israeli PM, in his discussions with Rice stated that he'll need atleast two weeks before the offensive can stop. So its more like a mini-war, and its going to have tremendous effects on both countries.
