MIDI files does not work.... Help needed

Usually i am am d one solving other`s problems! but this time i am probably trapped dont know what to do :crying the Midi files doesnt give a playback on my OS... they are working though... i can see the slider moving which means something is going on ! but no sound! ...
p.s i use Xp Sp2

There's usually a tick box in sound control panel, have a look there.

use itunes.
winamp's midi driver is $hit, don't think WMP has it though.

however,
note that midi's composed in one s/w won't sound the same when played in another one, as midi's are engine dependent.
