It's not 'the worst game ever' (although the campaign's far too short), but MW2 and MW seem a touch 'generic' to me. Give me WWII every time - a conflict that actually happened, so the storylines are always so much better.

At least the MoH series is actually setting their new modern game somewhere (Afghanistan), rather than 'The Middle East'.

The Middle East thing in CoD4 was to prevent possible outbursts, and to play on the safe side of things. But if you care to look at the satellite imagery of the location, Arabian Peninsula, or more specifically, pretty close to Saudi Arabia?s capital ? should be the message.

Either way, I love the subtleties these things told in the game. Like the PCGamer review of CoD4 campaign said:

The setup for CoD4 amounts to: "There's some kind of conflict in a Middle-Eastern country LET'S GO!" It's no less than we've come to expect from games, but it's a little less than we've come to expect from Call of Duty, and it's hard to get emotional about a conflict this vague.

Your enemies are referred to as 'Ultranationalists' but for a country that's never even named. Hilariously, your pre-mission briefing screen keeps telling you you're heading out to 'THE MIDDLE EAST', while news reportage yaks about fighting in 'the capital'. The capital of THE MIDDLE EAST?

You know, I think I might go on holiday to THE WEST next summer - I hear it's nice in THE MIDDLE YEAR. There's something cheap and cynical about this kind of non-specific design: as if we'll be happy to blast away at a generic Arab-looking country. Is that what we're like?

Any time the World War II incarnations of CoD made you think "What are we doing here, why are we fighting?" it was a profound reflection on the madness of war.

Because that war happened. When you're wondering the same in CoD4, they're not rhetorical questions. No really, guys, what am I doing here? What's my beef with the 900 people I've killed so far? In fact, where am I?

Nothing against MoH, in fact I can?t wait to see how it pans out, especially, bluntly speaking, the reboot being clearly spurred by the modern setting of the MW series. I personally think MW2 lost many of its subtleties for the price of OTT action feel that made CoD4 such a hit for me.

New Modern Warfare 2 Hack Gives Players Negative XP

According to several posters on the developer's official forums, a new hack for the game is going around on certain Xbox LIVE servers that gives players negative experience points for kills, which results in a drop in your rank.

A youtube clip [further down this post] has surfaced (spotted by Joystiq) showing the hack in action, which gives unsuspecting players -5,000,000 XP per kill.

"Me and my clan (SC) went into a game of HxC SnD, we found a group of tenth prestiges, we thought they were merely boosters, we were very wrong," one poster wrote.

"We knew something was wrong when they just waltzed out of their spawn in Highrise and let us kill them. After we won that round, they said 'AWW look at the level 1s' and we noticed..."

"Killing them made us LOSE xp.... we won the match because they ended it. Match Results: -899999453xp," the poster added.

It appears for now this hack is only widespread on Xbox 360 versions. We contacted Infinity Ward - have yet to hear back.

Thats why Im not prestiging. Its so stupid. Just going to stay level 70 and try to finish all the challenges.

Care Package
Sentry Gun (46/50 almost done)
Predator Missile
Precision Airstrike
Harrier Strike

Working on Sentry Gun, Attack Chopper and Emergency Airdrop right now. The animation emblems are awesome

Challenges are good but if you're planning to prestige they are all going to be reset, but then again you don't really have to prestige either. Waste of time.

Man, I hate people like that. Plenty of people are probably trying really hard to get through the prestige modes and now people will just think they're hacks.

yeah everytime I see someone with the 10th prestige symbol it immediately gives me the impression he's a hacker. Kind of same with the nuke symbol, so many people boost for these in a corner that even if you earn it the legit way you don't feel like wearing it.

Do any of you guys use AK with silencer (without SP) ? I currently use UMP in every map but thinking about giving it a go in large maps.

Ak is freakin' horrible, recoil is way too much, from what I hear it was the gun to use in COD4 but not in this one. Tar, Scar, M16 do the same damage as Ak with way less recoil.
My stealth setup is Tar+Silencer, Scavenger, Cold Blooded, Ninja Pro and it is awesome, totally invisible to the radar and planes/choppers, no sounds made from footsteps so people with surround headphones can't hear you, keep running around the whole map killing people and they don't have a clue where the shots are coming from lol. Tar has good iron sights, use burst fire for long distance and you'll rack up kills like a sniper. Also ACR/M4 silenced with Stopping Power is another awesome alternative.

I tried out the AK and TAR and after a few games, I found it to be a special rifle.. I cant use it in maps as large as quarry or wasteland but in med sized maps like Sub Base or Karachi it helped me do better than I was was doing with UMP! The horrible recoil makes it very hard to take down long range moving targets with, but in mid range without much of sideways recoil and more of up-down recoil I've scored a number of unintentional headshots!
I prefer the ACR in large maps like Derail or Wasteland and maps like Rundown where targets pop up from behind of solid covers and one needs to take accurate upper-body shots and been doing well. To me AK is a 'speciality rifle' which can hold its own against SMGs in CQC but it's useless for quick and precise shooting.
I never liked the SCAR. For me, it shoots a tad slowly and I never quite felt confident enough to confront enemies upfront.
And yeah, I'm a full time Ghoster. Sneaking behind enemy lines and killing them en masse with that "WTF??" look on their face... hell yeah!

Damn, probably won't be. But we'll definitely have to play together soon, wanna see some of these kill streaks you keep talking about. My highest kill streak is 9, which is poor, but I'm more of a not get killed kind of guy, which is why I have fairly good kill-death ratio (Well, for someone of my ability and play time).

I smell bullshit. There are no such things as "pro" servers, in fact there are no dedicated servers at all in this game.
