Modern Warfare 2

Unfortnately I cant play this game :( old computer...

bu???????a??????

@Anyone who's just bought the Xbox 360 Super Elite Modern Warfare 2 Bundle (the one that comes with 250gb and Modern Warfare 2 detail on the actual console), did your package come with a one month Xbox Live Gold sub? According to Game's website, it's supposed to come with that, but the one I bought Tuesday from Game instore didn't. I contacted the store and they don't think it comes with it anymore - they weren't completely sure - but as I said, the website says it does. I've emailed them, but as you know they take ages to respond, if anyone who's bought that bundle could clear this up for me, that'd be good.

Thanks in advance guys and enjoy the game! It looks great - shame the PC version appears to have been thoroughly buggered up as far as online is concerned. Maybe they'll release a patch or something... or then again maybe not. :)

It's the same basic length as CoD4.

That's not too bad then. CoD 4 was nowhere near as short as I thought it'd be - not as long as it should be for the money, but a decent campaign full of excellent gameplay. But let's be honest, it's online where these games really have longevity and the PC version seems to be thoroughly messed up in that department. Witness play.com's reviews:

Xbox 360: 50 reviewers, average 4.5.

PC: 20 reviewers, average 3.

Says it all. :facepalm

Yes. As far as I'm aware, Silver will allow you to d/l demos and talk to friends but to play, you need Gold. MS are being stupid as far as I'm concerned - their main rival doesn't charge a penny for online gaming and it comes with WiFi already built in. Someone at MS needs to get some business sense because right now, they ain't got any! It stands to reason: both consoles are evenly matched, so a complete newcomer is far more likely to go for the PS3 over the Xbox 360, simply by virtue of the fact that Xbox 360 doesn't come with WiFi already built in (meaning you need to lay out another ?40-?60 for the wireless adapter) and that you have to pay ?30 a year to play online!

If you're a noob with consoles, I strongly recommend going for the PS3 instead - by my experience, it's a lot less of a hassle.

Long Story Short, I'm really thinking this is nothing else but a port of the console version. Explains the feature cut downs, the loss of the console... etc.

And if it isn't, IW are idiots, idiots to disable functionality which took the game to success.

Hang on, PS3's online might be free but its absolutely shocking. Xbox Live is the proper way to play games online.

No way am I arguing about which is better, but for online play, XBL has it. And for what you get (Party chat function, Games market place, Sky TV) its a pretty decent price to pay ?5 a month, or ?40 annually.

I played MW2 on Xbox 360 today and I have to say, I love the splitscreen Spec Ops mode. Is this mode also going to be in PC? It's an online mode as well as splitscreen on consoles, but I don't see splitscreen making it to PC (again, dunno why). How does it work anyway? Is it you and a friend vs the AI, or can both teams be composed of players from around the world?

Regarding the Xbox Live Gold thing, it looks like a free trial is available for Xbox Live Gold now anyway - not sure how long it lasts for.

1 month.

You don't recieve the physical card for Xbox Live, yet when you first connect to Xbox Live you automatically enable your months trial of XBL I presume.

EDIT:

Once you connect to the internet, on ur xbox homepage it will say Join Xbox Live, click that, choose silver membership and sign up for free. If u sign up for silver, it also gives you one month free of gold . I hope this helps you out

What sort of Sky TV can you get - which channels?

Also, does 'Party Chat' mean you only need to hear the people in your party speaking, rather than every idiot (and the world is full of 'em) who's playing at any given moment? Seriously, I've heard arguments break out online between complete strangers - the sort of thing that would've resulted in a fight if they were face to face!!

12 months sub to Xbox Live Gold is only around ?32 online in some places, such as Zavvi, so I reckon we'll get 'em from there. Thanks for the heads up about Sky and so on. :)

Firstly, when you get Gold, add me, same user-name as here.

Secondly, there's quite a lot of channels, if you have Sky Multi-room, i believe its free. Otherwise there's a cost. Sky Sports is definitely on there.

Party Chat allows you to speak with any amounts of people, who you want to. I use private chat (1 person speaking to 1 other person) when there's 2 of us. I use Party chat when there's more of us.

I laugh in the face of people who say that PS3 has better online capabilities than the 360.

Just to add a little sidenote here; you can have up to 8 people in a party at a time.
