Most overrated cricketer on the planet...

And he was punished. Murali had the rules changed for him. Another example of the ICCs love affair with the Sub-Continent.

Murali is double jointed. His action is different but it makes no difference imo.

And if we are going on actions.

kasprowiczs looks dodgy imo.

Warne cheated by taking PEDs. he should've been banned for ever.

How many times has an Australian been involved with match fixing? 10 times?

Murali: Statistics overrate him, people underrate him. If you look at his 500+ wickets, you may notice a lot of them have come against lower-class sides. Warney however has got very few wickets against the worse sides, probably because our pace attack has cleaned up the team before he gets a bowl. But Murali is underrated by people in that while everyone sees him as a cheat who chucks it, he is also quite a smart bowler and does work for his wickets. He doesn't bowl the ball at breakneck speed, so the chucking effect is limited a little. Everyone needs to sit back and realise that he has done a pretty good job for someone with a buggered arm.

Gillespie: Whoever said he is overrated is a long way off. He would be a walk-up start to any international side, and if he wasn't Australian, a walk-up start to the World XI to play in the Super Series. He is an out-of-form star and will be back by the end of the series making his consistent valuable contributions.

Tendulkar: Agree with most that has been said about him. Fantastic player, but not a god like some people have treated him.

Hayden: When he was in form he wasn't really a class act, he was just a player with determination and a lot of brute force. Not sure if he will come back from this extended form slump.

The entire English team: Need I say more.

Michael Clarke: Was lucky to be picked in the team as there were plenty of other candidates for his batting position. Looks a tad like a poof and started with a bang but that has been the only shot he has fired in his career.

so the whole of the England Cricket team is overrated? Ignorant Aussie.

IF Murali chucks it it wouldn't make the spin affect any different. Stop moaning because he is as good as your players.

any more flaming and I'm going to close this thread. nothing useful coming out of it anyway.

Sachin is a bit over-rated in my opinion, but he's most certainly not average.

If he's average,then why aren't there other people who've scored 13,000 runs in odi's?

Who the hell have made those runs !!! no body ....no one has been able to reach his standards !!!

tell me people dont comapare with Bradman thats why...no one avarages like him....there are now many players who have played more than 300 matches ...like Jayasurya/inzy ganguly will be there soon....no one avrages 44+ in one dayers ....

I agree that Sachin Tendulkar is wildly overrated. Indian people worship him almost like a God but he has never been anything special in my opinion. He is an average batsman, just like everyone else.

SkateBoarder2 :noway

I dont agree with you....yes he hasent been upto his best for past 2 years but thats because of injuries....tell me one thing who has served for the nation so well for 16 years (he is 32 he served 16...that means half of his life).... no one in cricket history have made so many runs and hundreds..that shows his strength.....he made it possible to reach India upto finals of 2003 World cup (made more than 600 runs) and in semi finals of 96 world cup (500+ runs)!!

He is classy......just because of injury and also body gets tired after playing 16 years of International Cricket (not domestic ...its International )......his body will not be that flexible when he was 20-25 ...but still he will get runs .....and even then no one will be able to reach upto his standards !!!!!

If any other player has done it please reply in present (not Don Bradman please because he is Don and Sachin is next to him as people say)...please tell if any other player has acieved close to Tendukar .............. how many players have played to they have been able to play 300 + ODI's (just a few)...... any how many of them have 44+avg???

AVG factor
Runs
Hundreds

Personally I think its fatboy Sachin. ;)
clueless
hes clearly one of the greatest of all time.

Murali is a tricky one. Cant really say hes overrated because he should get alot more credit, hes far ahead of warne in terms of stats and performance wise.. but there is the issue of that action.

I agree on Sachin. People build him up like he's better than Bradman. But really, he's not that great.

While I'm at it, most overrated team in the last 10 years-India from 2000-2004 Easily.

This is hilarious stuff.. do you people know anything about cricket? Its not just india, all the so called experts of all your countries aknowledge that hes been the best for most of his time in the game. Its just not debatable, you can debate how good hayden is or inzamam is, who are both fine batsman.

But find one cricketer whose played against sachin who can call him average. you people really know nothing abt the game. Gavaskar was considered one of the best batsman ever, but sachin is considerably better. Thats coming from an indian, i have no bias. Remember also that sachin has played for a very average indian team for very long, only recently wev got pretty good.

In tests his record is magnificent, noone in recent times really compares. To keep your average at almost 60 after such a long period, and to play the game as agressively as he does. In one dayers, well, hes probabily the best one day batsman ever, i really cant think of anyone who has been better. His records just says it all. He carried the indian team for 6 or 7 years single handidly, when sachin got out, we knew we had lost.. if he hit a hundred, the win was ours. Thats the weight on this mans shoulders. And one more thing, the big stage, hes always been magnificent against the best team in the world(australia) and in all the world cups hes been in. He was one of the best batsman in the 96 world cup, the best player of the 2003 world cup, and did pretty well in the 99 one. Im sorry you guys might as well admit you dont watch much cricket or have been watching only recently..

Ive never heard so much rubbish in my life Jarryd! Overrated? Murali has what? 400 test wickets, which I bet as you say, a lot are tailenders, but it is exactly the same for all bowlers! He probably dismisses as many top order as lower. You talk rubbish man! Clearly you havent watched a lot of Murali over the years!!!

You're right Sorry Tassietiger.

Murali has 500 test wickets minimum. about 540 iirc.

the drug shane warne took was a masking agent.. he wasnt taking anything to mask so thats why he only got one year

he broke the rules and got punished for it, but what he took wasnt a performance enhancing drug in itself, it was a masking agent for performance enhancing drugs

Tino Best is highly overrated

I don't think so. I wouldn't rate him at all. He is not even a member of the WI starting XI these days.

Sachin is the best, bar bradmen(only because we can't properly compare them).

Disagree. Lara is a better batsman then Tendulkar. Maybe not as consistent but still better.

I think Sachin has been a better batsman over the years than BC Lara. But atleast Lara is often given the stick and is subject to criticism when he does not look to be performing. Sachin, doesnt matter if he is scoring a 0 or a 100, seems to always be Mr.Perfect for the fans. This doesnt put him under any pressure, which I am not sure is particularly good. Very similar to one Mr. Beckham when it comes to football.

Disagree.Sachin is clearly better.
Is that bitterness i hear in your voice Vaughen :D
