Most Promising Young Keepers?

well with dhoni, he had to be dropped ;)

who would you rather have?, Dhoni ( a new Gilchrist or even better) who has scored 183 with 10 sixes agaisnt a quality lankan attack, agian he scored a superb 148 vs Pak, and stayed thier at the end in the odi series in Zim and seen Ind through. Or would you rather pick karthik?

I'd pick Karthik. Maybe as a backup, but you never know. Some players excell in ODIs, but Tests are totally different. I actually like the idea of 2 different keepers. This makes each one work harder and perform better to get a place in the other form of the game, and if we get Parthiv Patel back, we could have 3 excellent, performing keepers. We'd also have a backup if one gets injured.

At least give Dhoni a go in Test. You can't just say hes a ODI player and not try him in test. You will be eft wondering for the rest of your life, would Dhoni have done well in test?

I'm not saying don't give him a shot, but just keep Karthik in the picture. Give Dhoni maybe like 2-3 tests in a row, but after that, stick to Karthik. he is very capable too...

Stick to Karthik even if Dhoni has good games?
I would say Dhoni should be given 5 test matches. 2-3 test matches means you could get 2 dodgy calls, 2 rippers and thats your test career!

Like I said, Karthik seems more suited for tests. He can bat with the tail and has shown that in the few tests he has palyed in. Dhoni is yet to show if he can do this.
With Dhoni's style of batting, all the opposition have to do is lure himinto a big shot and get rid of him, however-Karthik is less risky.

Gilchrist is exactly the same but he has done wonders for Australia. England have Pitersen who has also done wonders for his team. You just have to faith in your tail.

Exactly, you never know a player could come handy when the team needs to get quick runs, or need 4 sixes form 4 balls to save the team from following on like Kapil dev did in England ages ago.

Always makes me giggle remembering him, he came in so young that during the England tour back in 2000? 2001? he had to have a note from his mum saying he could play. Magic.

Exactly and on the staying around with the tail. If the tail can't stay in without a batsmen at the other end then it won't make a difference if the batsmen is Dhoni or Karthik.
Karthik would most likely be left stranded by the tail anyway. Dhoni would be the same but he may have got a quick fire 50.

i still like the way he got a match winning 93

that wasn't easy 4 down, laxman injured, pak may have won if chasing 200 something

dhoni wud have been hitting hard and may have got out for 40 ball 45, in meanwhile dravid wud have got only around 15, so 60 runs partnership only

injured laxman wud have come and got out quickly and tail is just tail

Any way, apart from Hartley's first ball duck today, facing a fired up Brett Lee, after Brad Haddin, I reckon he is a great prospect.
