But I found something interesting.
If you look at Shoaib or Murali side-on, when their arm is pointing down just before the swing of the arm, it is perfectly straight. I know that the action will be considered from the horizontal, but if they can straighten it at that position, then why can't they while bowling.
After reading that article by the Australian University on Shoaib's action, we tried the poses (fig. 1 and fig. 2). It was easy for every one of us to bring our arms to that awkward angle. What I am trying to mean here is that, why can't these people just act like they cannot stretch more.
You could try it yourself, keep your fists pointed in the same direction as Shoaib's and you will get a similar angle in your arm.
