First Warm Up

Well, it was the day of my first match for Tasmania. We were playing the United States Of America for a 5 day unofficial match that was hosted Tasmania Cricket & USA Cricket Board in support of spreading cricket plus a good chance to test the bench strength.

We gathered in the dressing room where the team was being announced for this match and Tim said, "Wells,James Faulknere,Cazulino,Lockyear,Doolan,Matthew Day*,Parth,Doherty,Drew,Jeremy Smith,Adam Griffith are playing. Hearing my name I had a big smile on my face and I was really excited.

United States won the toss on a surface which looked absolute dead in conditions which were highly favoring the batsman. With nothing in for bowlers, we made a strategy of bowling a constant short of length deliveries. Johnson and Alexander were the two opening batsman for United States. We huddled up and vowed to give our best shot as this is the start of a big season. Captain Matthew said "We not only have to win this game but we have to play at our best. Instead of seeing the whole match we will have to win sessions. If we win sessions we definitely be ahead in this game"

Pitch & Weather both have batsman the advantage as Day 1 begins.

We started our bowling pretty well and were bowling as planned. Plenty of short deliveries to handle and in between a full delivery. Jeremy Smith and Adam Griffith opened the bowling for us. USA batsman were careful in playing their shots and made a slow start. They were watchful at the ball and did not play careless cricket.

Over cautious start from USA lead to frustration as Johnson played a straight drive which was not at timed well and was caught and bowled by Adam Griffith. Romero was the next batsman in and we continued to bowl short of length deliveries. Slowly and steadily it seemed that they were getting into the nick and after staying for a while knew exactly how the pitch is behaving.

Runs started flowing from both the ends as Romero and Alexandra took the attacking approach. There were few out of the park hits for six and there were some nice cover drives. Our shot of length bowling was also attacked and a massive six was hit. Matthew Day tried to speak to bowlers as much as possible as they were constantly under great pressure. Xavier Doherty the more experience of a person had a chat with Matthew where we decided to build some serious pressure on Alexandra who looked vulnerable.

Brendan Drew and Adam Griffith were told to bowl tight line and length and not give Alexandra any room. The field was called in and there were fielders all around his bat. A small edge would even be caught. There were bouncers that hit his helmet. Meanwhile he played his shots for boundaries and a massive six but his patience ran out as Brendan Drew bowled the slowest delivery of the match out of no where and Alexandra was already committed to the shot. He landed up in no mans land as he gave a simple catch to the covers. United States had lost 2 wickets and we were happy that the plan was well executed.

Lunch was nearing and Romero along with skipper Massiah played defensively to end a session which belonged to the United States of America despite losing 2 wickets.

Day 1 : Session - Lunch
USA - 132/2 in 33 Overs
Alexandra - 47(84)
Romero - 45(75)*

Brendan Drew - 7-3-20-1

What season are we in? Can I suggest you regularly include the full date in your update.

Also, the banners (by Kumar08) are really very nice, but 'shield' and 'story' are misspelled in the header, and 'story' is misspelled (twice!) in the footer. How easy (or otherwise) is that to fix?

Thanks!!

I am not going any season wise :) Its just a diary :p You can call it 2010 season as I dont have to updated rosters :)
